Position Summary
Plans and leads efforts to develop and implement operating systems administration projects related to system administration. Responsible for project planning, documentation, and project budget.


Key Responsibilities
  • Performs project management activities for current and future computer systems, related hardware, software, and networking components. Represents ISD at project coordination meetings to identify tasks and resources within ISD to support projects.
  • Meets with users and evaluates current and projected demands for equipment and network needs. Research alternatives and recommend modifications to the current architectures, procedures, and configurations to maximize utilization of existing resources.
  • Designs and implement customizations to the computer environment as required to meet the needs of the Children's Hospital User Community.
  • Prepares project schedules, presentations, recommendations, RFPs, technical summaries, status reports, and other project management reports.
  • Participates in the budgeting process for all services and hardware. Works with Purchasing to negotiate with vendors for hardware and services. Documents on the cost of delivery of hardware and services.
  • Recommend software acquisitions to meet projected demands. Performs product evaluations and trials as part of a continuing effort to improve productivity of existing software.
  • Identifies end user/application requirements as they relate to the computer systems environments in order to develop and execute a plan within project time frames.
  • Maintains computer system security. Keep current on all published security warnings. Monitors daily security audit trail for multiple systems. Inform management of any security breaches or holes in computer system security and propose solutions.
  • Coordinates efforts of institutional technical and engineering groups to specify and deliver services for personnel work area needs, as necessary.
  • Works closely with the Desktop Specialists, Applications Team Leaders, Network Managers to resolve issues, and to set priorities and schedules.

Knowledge and Skills
  • Citrix / VDI / Windows Server
  • Design, implement, and support enterprise Citrix environments
  • Optimize performance for virtual applications and desktop pertaining to end user experience
  • Manage platform lifecycle (upgrades, patching, capacity planning)
  • Troubleshoot advanced issues related to profiles, policies, and session performance
  • Administer and support Windows Server systems in Citrix environments

  • Enterprise Storage
  • Administer SAN and NAS platforms
  • Support storage integration with virtualization, Windows Server, and Citrix workloads
  • Monitor and optimize storage performance

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related Field

Experience
  • 6 years of experience

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
