A Brief Overview This position is responsible for planning, monitoring, and directly coordinating pharmacy storeroom staff in the safe, effective, and cost-effective acquisition of drugs within University Hospitals. What You Will Do Maintain accurate inventory levels and ensure items are stored in the appropriate location and under the appropriate storage conditions.
- Monitor inventory for stock levels, expiration dates, shortages, overstock, and items requiring special handling.
- Perform routine inventory counts and investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
- Replenish pharmacy areas, automated dispensing cabinets, refrigerators, and other designated medication storage locations as needed.
- Collaborate with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, purchasing, nursing units, and other departments to address inventory and supply needs.
- Identify inventory issues and communicate shortages, backorders, discrepancies, and other concerns to the appropriate pharmacy leadership.
- Assist with maintaining appropriate par levels and recommend inventory adjustments based on utilization and operational needs.
- Support medication and supply movement between pharmacy locations while maintaining accurate documentation and inventory accountability.
- Use pharmacy inventory systems and other technology to document receiving, inventory transactions, replenishment, and distribution activities.
- Participate in inventory audits, cycle counts, and other quality-improvement activities.
- Maintain automated dispensing cabinets to ensure medications are appropriately stocked, organized, and available for patient care.
- Perform routine automated dispensing cabinets maintenance and troubleshooting, including resolving stocking issues, identifying equipment or drawer/bin issues, and addressing common user or medication-access problems.
- Assist with adding, removing, and modifying medications and inventory within Omnicell devices.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support safe, efficient, and reliable pharmacy operations.
- Procurement and restocking of drug products within the hospital and individual pharmacies
- Processing of all associated invoices and credits.
- Maintain orderliness of pharmacy storeroom area.
- Utilization of electronic systems for ordering and receiving.
