Required Qualifications:

About the Department

The Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship (SME) Department at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota (Minnesota Carlson), seeks applicants to fill one 75% Professional and Administrative (P&A) Instructor position starting in Fall 2026.

This individual will start off teaching courses in Business Communication and Strategic Management. Potential additional courses to be added in the following year are a variety of courses at the Undergraduate and Graduate Levels. A 75% P&A Instructor covers courses accounting for 18 credits annually.

Successful applicants will be able to teach at both the undergraduate (e.g., BA) and graduate (e.g., MBA) student levels. They should also be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching at both levels, preferably through reference to past teaching experience at the University of Minnesota or another university. They need not be active researchers in related areas, but such research interest is welcome. They should be able to work with a teaching team to develop curriculum and materials that are consistent across different course sections. They should be willing and able to advise students on all course issues outside of course instruction time during office hours.

The successful applicant will have a terminal degree in Business Administration, Operations, Strategic Management or related field (e.g., Law) along with significant teaching experience. Additionally, preferred candidates will have relevant business industry and communications experience. See required qualifications.

This P&A teaching position is an annual appointment, renewable based on performance, SME Departmental needs, and budget priorities. Applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S. This position is not eligible for H-1B or Green Card sponsorship.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $58,000 - $62,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75% Appointment
