DESCRIPTION OF WORK
-
This role focuses on sewing, repairing, and preparing garments and linens that support daily life at the facility. The work follows clear routines and helps maintain a safe and comfortable environment for residents. As a Seamstress, you will perform the following duties:
- Inspection Tasks: Identify and sort items that need repair, alteration, or labeling
- Sewing Work: Operate hand tools and sewing machines to alter and repair clothing, linens, and other items
- Labeling Duties: Tag and label clothing and linens and update labels on donated items as needed
- Work Area Care: Maintain a clean and organized sewing space and arrange service for equipment when needed
- Fabric Preparation: Cut patterns and trim, press, and fold articles for assembly such as curtains and decorations
- Laundry Support: Wash and dry curtains and draperies when required

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This may change based on operational needs.
- Travel and overtime as needed

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six months of sewing or mending experience; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
