| Position Summary |
To assist in neuroscience research and lab activities in Anton lab at
UNC Neuroscience Center. The position is for a temporary research technician and the purpose is to support molecular and cellular neuroscience research aimed at understanding the mechanisms of brain development and neurodevelopmental disorders. Main job duties will include assisting with in vitro and in vivo molecular and cell biological experiments using a wide array of approaches including mouse genetic models, advanced live imaging of cell and molecular dynamics, in utero electroporation, single-cell transcriptomics, proteomics,
CRISPR-based gene expression manipulation, and image analysis. Other duties of the position include routine lab maintenance and management, effective transgenic mouse colony management, and supervision of undergraduate student aids. Exposure to and training in advanced cell biological, live imaging, and gene manipulation techniques will be provided. Data are to be reviewed with the PI and other lab supervisors and presented at lab meetings. Lab provides a strong mentoring and training environment. The person will function as a research technician in the lab, assisting with research and lab managerial duties. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. |
| Management Preferences |
Educational background in biology, neuroscience, chemistry, or other similar field.
Detail oriented with ability to manage several ongoing tasks with competing deadlines.
Possess a passion for learning and research.
Ability to work well with others.
Interest in training as research lab manager or eventually pursuing a degree in Neuroscience, Biomedical Sciences, or Medicine. |
