| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The
UNC Adams School of Dentistry Division of Pediatric and Public Health provides oral health care for individuals from infancy through adolescence, and promotes the prevention of oral disease. The Pediatric Dentistry discipline is committed to the treatment of children, adolescents and special needs patients while balancing teaching, scholarship, patient care, research and professional service activities. |
| Position Summary |
This Adjunct Associate Professor position is a part-time appointment (0.40
FTE, 2 days per week) expected to engage in clinical pediatric dentistry educational activities in the graduate and
DDS programs. The part-time faculty member will provide clinical coverage of
DDS students and pediatric dentistry residents two days per week, including the
DDS and graduate pediatric clinics at the
UNC Adams School of Dentistry and affiliated community clinic locations. Successful applicants will be experienced clinicians, with demonstrated experience and interest in teaching, and should demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, leadership traits, and a commitment to inclusivity and collegiality. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
DDS or
DMD or equivalent degree; pediatric dentistry certificate and/or MS degree; evidence of previous teaching,
ABPD diplomate status or eligibility; are all required.
Must hold or be eligible for a North Carolina dental license or a North Carolina dental instructor's license. Active
CPR/
BLS and
PALS certifications are required. Demonstrated clinical proficiency and teaching experience in pediatric dentistry, and the ability to successfully complete the credentialing process at both the
UNC Adams School of Dentistry |
| Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Demonstrated work experience in a comparable academic/clinical setting. Previous experience in a public health setting or community-based dental clinic is highly preferred. |
| Special Physical/Mental Requirements |
Must possess the visual acuity, manual dexterity, physical stamina, and emotional resilience required to perform clinical dental procedures and provide direct clinical supervision for extended periods in a dental clinic where learners of various levels (i.e., dental students and residents) are trained. Duties to be performed with or without accommodation. |
