Hill International is seeking a Construction Inspector inHouston, TX


  • Oversight of construction inspection to ensure roadways, bridges, drainage and related structures, traffic control, and environmental requirements are builtin accordance withplans and specifications
  • Consultswithprojectengineers, resident project representatives and contractors' superintendents on work progress and construction problems; reviews equipmentutilizationdata and time/cost estimates
  • Ensures adequate levels of equipment and materials are assigned to projects; ensures material tests are performed and materials meet required standards
  • Drives to ensurecontractors build roadways,bridges,and related highway structures and/or airport improvementsin accordance withplans and specifications
  • Documents work progress and issues arising throughout scope of project
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned
  • Reviewsconstruction records, inspectionreportsand records audits to ensure contractors build roadways,bridges,and related structuresin accordance withplans and specifications
  • Mentors and develop technical employees in test and inspection procedures and material specifications
  • Trackswork progress
  • DevelopDaily Work Reports (DWRs) inSite Manager
  • Verifiesall materials meet specifications and are performing as designed
  • Performsmaterial testing and inspection at various locations, including laboratory, field, plant, and stockpile,utilizingrequired methods and equipment
  • Performsmeasurement and documentation of quantities onappropriate formsandin accordance withspecifications
  • Leadsthe work of professional and technical employees in construction experience.
  • 6+ years of construction inspection experience on highways/roadways
  • Understanding of governmental laws,rulesand regulations specific to area of responsibility for safeguarding information and information technology related systems, inspection methods, procedures and techniques and testing methods,processesand procedures
  • Reading and interpreting applicable plans,schematics,blueprintsand maps
  • Applicable plans, specifications and estimates preparation, review,processingand compliance requirements
  • Methods for reviewing plans and specifications for compliance with requirements
  • Construction engineering policies and procedures
  • Basic traffic management and control procedures
