Job Description:

This person will support maintenance mechanics and facilities staff by performing "handyman" maintenance duties such as furniture moves, simple electrical projects, spot painting and/or cleaning, light construction and/or exterior cleanup. They will work with outside contractors on building and equipment repairs. Operate site equipment as needed, using hand and power tools as necessary. May perform other activities such as audio-visual (AV) set up for meetings or conferences, inter-office mail deliveries, wastepaper recycling, and stocking of employee break areas.

Mastered:

  • Ability to perform complex maintenance tasks for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, machining and general mechanical skills.
  • Skills to install and troubleshoot industrial electrical and utility systems.
  • Ability to perform complex plumbing repairs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems.
  • A certification, licensure, or completed a journeyman ship for at least one general skilled trade.
  • Verbal and Written skills to obtain and provide results. Presents results/content to customers (internal or external) and/or others.
  • Effective use of appropriate tools

Demonstrating:

  • A high degree of knowledge and skills as a general tradesman in the electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC trades.
  • Ability to lead or co-lead facility projects and direct subcontractors.
  • Understanding complex facilities maintenance activities and general maintenance tradesman skills.
  • Ability to meet all code requirements for facilities and personnel safety compliance.

Developing:

  • Ability to lead sub-contractors to meet budget, schedule and project scope goals
  • Ability to lead and mentor internal people to perform maintenance activities.
  • Assists management with problem solving around reoccurring, systemic problems
  • Consistently leads the most complex assignments requiring independent action, judgment and decision making
  • Regularly makes recommendations for new procedures and leads implementation
  • As a skilled specialist, completes tasks in creative and effective ways
  • Applies full understanding of the job and company to apply knowledge and skills to lead a support project
  • Internal and external contacts often pertain to company plans and objectives
  • Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments
  • Provides discipline area guidance and mentoring to other team members
  • Often leads the activities of other nonexempt personnel

Compensation Range: $30.29-$37.84

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:
  • Associate's degree, technical/business school, or equivalent; may vary by functional area
  • Typically, 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience may include managing office operations, advanced support skills, and extensive knowledge of tools, software, and other technologies

Must be a U.S. citizen. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
