Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the Pediatric Department at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. This role supports military families by delivering high-quality outpatient pediatric care in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

Schedule & Work Hours
  • Monday - Friday schedule
  • Typical shifts: 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM (varies by clinic need)
  • Maximum: 80 hours per two-week period
  • Schedules provided up to 12 weeks in advance
  • Schedule adjustments require a 72-hour advance notice
  • Occasional weekend/holiday coverage may be required
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Graduate of a State Board-approved LPN/LVN program or equivalent military training

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of LPN experience within the last 2 years

  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted LPN/LVN license

  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) required

  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to pediatric patients in an outpatient setting
  • Conduct patient intake, triage, and vital sign collection
  • Administer medications, immunizations, and IV therapies
  • Assist providers with exams, procedures, and treatments
  • Monitor and document patient conditions and treatment responses
  • Provide education to pediatric patients and families on care plans and prevention
  • Support clinic workflow, scheduling, and patient coordination
