Overview To plan, coordinate and oversee both Construction Operations, and Contractor Employees. Planning and coordination of the external governmental agencies, municipalities and contractors. Maintain EH&S activities/policies associated with all contractor activities. Oversee and coordinate capital and Human Resource budget. Ensures full compliance with all Federal, State, NYC and company policies. Leads the workforce and contractor labor in safe work practices and sound environmental/Health programs. Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Ensure implementation of Company safety, health, and environmental programs; enforce safe work practices in compliance with Company policy and government regulations.
- Adhere to the Way We Work Principles, Standards of Business Conduct, and all Company policies and procedures (EH&S, EEO, discipline, security, contractor oversight).
- Promote a strong customer-focused culture and enhance the Companys public image through professional, high-performing field operations.
- Plan, estimate, and coordinate contractor work; oversee construction activities between Company and contractor forces.
- Oversee employee staffing, scheduling, training, and development to meet operational and regulatory requirements (Federal, State, NYC, Company).
- Lead and develop teams by promoting accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure contractor and Company forces are properly trained to perform work safely and in an environmentally compliant manner.
- Ensure compliance with permits, DOT requirements, and all regulatory and operational standards.
- Manage materials, procurement, and inventory to support field operations.
- Maintain accurate records and monitor performance, KPIs, and departmental metrics; support budgeting, reporting, and leadership presentations.
- Coordinate and monitor field activities for construction and maintenance across Electric, Gas, Steam, Facilities, and related work; respond to emergencies as needed (24/7).
- Investigate and resolve labor, operational, and safety issues; support corrective action planning and continuous process improvement.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
- High School Diploma/GED and 7 years relevant work experience or
- Associate's Degree and 5 years relevant work experience or
- Bachelor's Degree and 3 years relevant work experience
Relevant Work Experience
- Knowledge of Specifications and procedures of contracts is required. Required
- Excellent computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, and IMS applications is required. Required
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with contractors, all levels of management, engineers, public officials, governmental and municipal agencies and community board representatives is required. Required
- Demonstrated knowledge of all contract administration procedures is required. Required
- Experience in applicable construction management functions associated with supervision and planning of construction projects and contractor oversight is preferred. Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- Driver's License Upon Hire Required
Physical Demands
- Ability to respond to system emergencies
- Able to work in all weather conditions, i.e. excessive heat and/or cold
- Ability to work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces)
- Stand, walk, and climb ladders and stairs for the duration of the workday
- Stand, walk, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach for the duration of the workday
- Ability to travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies
Additional Physical Demands
- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
