JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Engineering Services Office in the Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State is looking for aself-disciplined, highly motivated, and customer service-oriented individual for the role of Part-Time Inventory control and distribution specialist Intern to join our Supply Chain Department. ARL's purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific, engineering, and technology problems in support of the Navy, the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Intel Community (IC).

ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lifting and moving items weighing up to 50 pounds regularly

  • Standing and walking throughout warehouse for extended periods daily

  • Bending, reaching, and climbing ladders to access shelving frequently

  • Operating hand trucks, pallet jacks, and similar equipment

Required skills and experience include:

  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds regularly

  • Ability to organize large quantities of diverse items systematically

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or similar database applications for inventory tracking

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for professional correspondence

  • Capability to work independently and manage time effectively with minimal supervision

Preferred skills and experience include:

  • Experience with inventory management software systems

  • Familiarity with tracking technologies

  • Knowledge of university procurement or property management systems

The successful candidate will work up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters and 40 hours per week over the summer. Hours will vary.

This is a paid part-time position, located on Penn State's University Park Campus. Relocation and housing are not provided.

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
