Mead & Hunt, an award-winning national architecture and engineering firm, has continued to exceed our strategic growth initiatives creating opportunity for our current and prospective team members. As a result, a full-time position is available for an Experienced Mechanical Engineer at our office location in Tampa, FL.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and provide technical guidance to mechanical project teams
  • Attend client meetings, ensuring project objectives are met
  • Oversee construction phase services with a focus on quality and efficiency
  • Mentor junior staff, fostering a culture of professional growth and learning
  • Contribute to business development efforts with innovative solutions
  • Other tasks as assigned

A valid driver's license and approximately 25% travel to military bases and airports as part of lead mechanical engineer role.

The successful candidate must have all the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or architectural engineering from an accredited college or university
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering
  • PE license in any state and have the ability to obtain in additional states as needed

The ideal candidate will have any/all of the following:

  • Expertise in many mechanical system types, such as hot water, chilled water, condenser water systems, VAV, Geothermal, VRF systems, DDC control systems
  • Experience in sustainable design, steam systems, commissioning services, and plumbing systems
  • Proven track record as lead mechanical engineer on projects
  • Experience in designing mechanical systems for Federal Government projects
  • Commitment to sustainable design and innovation
  • Experience or familiarity with generative AI-driven tools, platforms, or systems (e.g. Microsoft Copilot, Chat GPT, Claude, Gemini) to enhance productivity, automate tasks, and reduce errors
