Missouri Partners in Prevention (PIP) is a statewide coalition of colleges and universities in Missouri dedicated to creating healthier and safer campus communities. Missouri PIP staff assist campuses to identify data-driven evidence-based public health interventions to address substance misuse, mental health concerns, interpersonal violence, and other college health concerns. Our student internship program allows students to gain professional experience in a public health work environment.

Job Description

NOTE: This is an in-person role based in Columbia, MO at the University of Missouri-Columbia campus.

Summary

The PIP Student Graphic Design Intern will provide crucial services to Missouri PIP campuses and the general community. Primary roles will include the graphic design of health education materials, website content edits, and communication with campus partners.

Missouri PIP's mission is to:

  • Create healthy and safe college campuses.
  • Reduce high-risk behaviors among Missouri college students.
  • Assist campuses statewide in implementing evidence-based strategies.
  • Create a communication network of health and well-being professionals across campuses.
  • Provide resources, training, and technical assistance to campus professionals and students.

Essential Functions

As the PIP Student Graphic Designer, the selected candidate will be responsible for a variety of duties, including:

  • Graphic design creation or updates to health education materials including brochures, handouts, slide decks, posters, etc.
  • Making edits and updates to Partners in Prevention websites, training programs, and other digital resources.
  • Attending weekly staff meetings and check-ins with the rest of the PIP team to provide progress on tasks and solicit feedback/assistance.
Shift

Average number of hours per week: 20-25.

This position may require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite products (or similar graphic design software).
  • Proficient keyboarding skills are necessary.
  • Strong organization, customer service, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous professional experience as a graphic designer.
  • Degree in graphic design, studio art, or communications.
  • Prior experience with health literacy and developing health communication materials for a lay audience is preferred.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Range: $15.25 per hour, paid on a bi-weekly basis.
