The School of Chemistry & Biochemistry of The Georgia Institute of Technology has vibrant undergraduate and graduate programs, with over 400 undergraduate majors and 200 graduate students, and an extensive research portfolio. Its faculty, staff, and students participate in a range of dynamic and collaborative research programs and enjoy modern facilities located on a pleasant urban campus in the City of Atlanta, Georgia.

Job Summary

The School of Chemistry & Biochemistry (https://chemistry.gatech.edu/) at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia invites applications for a Professor of the Practice non-tenure-track faculty position in Chemistry and Biochemistry with a focus on sustainable/green chemistry initiatives and renewable bioproducts.

Responsibilities

This Professor of the Practice will develop sustainable/green chemistry initiatives in the area of renewable bioproducts. They will show a high level of independence, working well with government and industry partners to develop initiatives that modernize industries, advance sustainable practices, and boost rural economies. Day-to-day work will focus on research and development, product testing, new market development, pilot facility development, and transitioning of technologies from the laboratory to commercial use in collaboration with industry partners.

Required Qualifications

Have substantial bases of experience, normally at least ten (10) to fifteen (15) years, and a national/international reputation for excellence.
Have rich and extensive backgrounds in fields and disciplines related to the sustainable/green chemistry initiatives and renewable bioproducts

Preferred Qualifications

  • Employment experience in both academe and industry.
  • Experience with translation of innovative research to commercial practice demonstrated by publication/patent record.
  • Demonstrated track record for impactful research with a patent & publication count greater than 150 and an average top 10 article citation rate greater than 1,200 citations per article[VW3.1].
  • Professional recognition as demonstrated though election to professional scientific society `Fellow status, member of nation academies, or similar honors.
  • Pioneering true foundational firsts in main-group chemistry.
  • Serve as a liaison between industry or government and the Institute in identifying teaching and research opportunities that support the public interest and societal needs
  • Demonstrated leadership for new scientific, technical, and/or business initiatives.
  • Explicit leadership in sustainable/green chemistry initiatives.
  • Demonstrated track record for successful mentoring professional development of younger technical professionals.
  • An earned doctorate in Chemistry & Biochemistry or related field.
