Director of Pricing Intelligence

Trinity Logistics, Inc
United States, Delaware, Seaford
50 Fallon Avenue (Show on map)
May 29, 2026

JOB SUMMARY:

Trinity Logistics is hiring a Director of Pricing Intelligence to lead the next generation of our pricing decision process across both customer-facing rates (AR) and carrier procurement (AP). This leader will own the algorithms, models, analytics, and operational team that determine how Trinity prices to deliver best-in-class, market-aligned, explainable pricing for spot and contract that increases margin, improves the win rate, and enables fair, insight-driven carrier procurement - across truckload, LTL, intermodal, expedited, and drayage.

The role combines hands-on data science leadership with disciplined business operating rhythm. You will lead a team of four - pricing analysts and Bid Operations specialists - who execute automated bids on bid boards, support enterprise RFPs, and feed continuous learning back into our models. You will build the analytics that prove whether Trinity is getting better or worse at pricing to market, week over week, mode by mode, lane by lane. You will partner closely with Sales, Operations, and Capacity to put pricing intelligence in the hands of the front-line broker as an exception basis while centrally automating pricing for commodity modes/lanes. This position requires a solid understanding of automation technology, machine learning, large language models, and agentic agents - with the ability to work closely with our automation and engineering teams to continuously improve the pricing experience for our customers, carriers, and team members via our TMS and other channels of choice.

Success in the First 12 Months Will Look Like:

Establishing scalable pricing strategies and analytical capabilities that improve decision-making across spot, contractual, and bid-board freight opportunities. Success in this role will include reducing spot quote variance against market and closing rates by 30% or more, significantly improving quoting speed while maintaining or improving margin performance, and driving measurable gains in bid-board and RFP win rates. This leader will also expand the use of pricing models and data-driven decision support across modes, increasing model adoption and helping position the organization for more predictive and strategic pricing capabilities in the future.

The role is grounded in our Company's Core Values:

  1. Personal.Service.Excellence. We share a passion for serving others and take extreme ownership of creating the best possible experience.
  2. Make it Happen. With integrity we are persistent in overcoming obstacles, delivering beyond expectations.
  3. We Not Me. Through listening and collaboration, we selflessly solve problems to create success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Pricing Decision Intelligence

  1. Develop and productionize pricing algorithms for AR (customer quotes, target margins, win-probability) and AP (carrier cost prediction, acceptance probability) across all Trinity modes.
  2. Drive measurable improvement in spot quote accuracy (variance between quoted rate and actual booked or market-clearing rate) and quote response speed (median and p90 time-to-quote).
  3. Build and maintain models for lane-level rate forecasting, margin elasticity, carrier acceptance probability, and award probability on enterprise bids.
  4. Integrate third-party market intelligence of external data and internal historical data into a single, governed feature store.
  5. Automate dynamic pricing such that a growing percentage of our inbound freight is auto accepted and priced with no touch.

Performance Analytics & Pricing Governance

  1. Stand up the analytics that quantify whether Trinity is getting better or worse at pricing - segmented by mode, lane, customer tier, sales channel, and broker. Meet weekly to review and improve.
  2. Publish a monthly Pricing Scorecard for executive leadership covering accuracy, speed, win rate, margin, and model performance.
  3. Operate a model risk and review cadence covering drift, A/B testing, champion/challenger framework, and rollback playbooks.
  4. Partner with Finance to reconcile pricing model output with realized revenue, gross margin, and accessorial recovery.

Team Leadership

  1. Lead and develop a team of pricing analysts and bid operations specialists.
  2. Operate the automated bidding function on external bid boards and customer portals - own the configuration, monitoring, and tuning of the rules and models that submit bids on Trinity's behalf.
  3. Support enterprise RFP responses with rate compilation, what-if modeling, and post-award win/loss diagnostics.
  4. Define hiring, onboarding, and career-pathing for analytical talent within the pricing function.

Technology & Data Partnership

  1. Partner with the Technology organization on data warehouse architecture, ML platform, and integrations to our custom TMS and ecosystem of tools and data.
  2. Work with our Commercial software team to define the data contracts and APIs needed to deliver pricing decisions in real time to broker tools, customer portals, and TMS workflows - all at the right price.
  3. Evaluate buy-vs.-build options for pricing engines, market intelligence sources, and decision tooling - with disciplined ROI cases.

Cross-Functional Influence

  1. Partner with Sales on bid strategy, target margin guidance, and customer-facing decision support.
  2. Partner with Operations on carrier-side AP rate guidance, target carrier mix, and coverage.
  3. Translate model outputs into language and tooling front-line brokers will actually adopt.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. 8+ years of progressive analytics, pricing science, or data science experience, with at least 3 years in a leading role.
  2. Hands-on experience building pricing, dynamic pricing, demand forecasting, or revenue management models in transportation, logistics, marketplaces, e-commerce, ride-share, airline, or hospitality.
  3. Demonstrated track record of moving models from notebook to production with measurable business outcomes (revenue, margin, win rate, response time).
  4. Strong working proficiency in Python and SQL; comfortable in a modern data stack (Snowflake, Power BI, Bedrock).
  5. Working knowledge of ML approaches relevant to pricing: gradient boosting, regression, time-series, causal inference, and bandit / RL concepts.
  6. Bachelor's degree in quantitative discipline (statistics, operations research, economics, applied math, computer science, engineering) or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  7. Excellent written and verbal communication; able to translate technical findings into clear executive narratives and broker-friendly tooling.
  8. Commitment to living Company Core Values.
