Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead and support all site safety operations within a commercial new construction environment, with a strong preference for hyperscale data center project experience. This role is responsible for implementing, administering, and monitoring safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with company standards, client requirements, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The Safety Manager serves as the on-site safety authority, driving a proactive safety culture through training, audits, hazard mitigation, incident management, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position requires regular field presence, collaboration with project teams and subcontractors, and the ability to respond effectively to safety-related incidents and emergencies.

Job Responsibilities




  • Implement, enforce, and monitor company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.



  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E standards, and project-specific safety requirements.



  • Conduct routine site audits, inspections, and safety assessments to identify hazards and compliance gaps.



  • Develop and implement corrective action plans to mitigate risks and improve safety performance.



  • Review and evaluate Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Pre-Task Plans (PTPs), and other safety documentation.



  • Deliver safety orientations, toolbox talks, training programs, and educational presentations.



  • Investigate incidents, near misses, property damage events, and equipment-related occurrences.



  • Perform root cause analyses and implement preventive measures to reduce future incidents.



  • Coordinate emergency response activities and support emergency action planning and drills.



  • Maintain OSHA logs, incident reports, audit records, training documentation, and safety metrics.



  • Facilitate safety meetings, committees, and communication initiatives across project teams.



  • Provide guidance and mentorship to field personnel, supervisors, and site safety staff.



  • Support the hiring, training, and supervision of safety coordinators as needed.



  • Collaborate with subcontractors to ensure compliance with site-specific safety requirements.



  • Participate in claims reviews and incident follow-up activities.



  • Communicate safety performance, incidents, and compliance concerns to project leadership.



  • Promote continuous improvement through safety management systems, reporting tools, and performance metrics.



  • Travel as required to support operational and project needs.



  • Perform additional safety-related duties as assigned.




Job Requirements




  • High School Diploma or GED required.



  • Associate degree or higher preferred.



  • Minimum of 5 years of construction safety leadership experience in commercial or industrial construction environments.



  • Experience supporting mission-critical projects, data centers, or other high-risk construction environments preferred.



  • Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 regulations and applicable state safety standards.



  • Working knowledge of NFPA 70E, ANSI standards, and construction safety best practices.



  • Experience conducting Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Pre-Task Plans (PTPs), site audits, and hazard assessments.



  • Demonstrated experience leading incident investigations and root cause analysis activities.



  • Experience developing and implementing emergency response and emergency action plans.



  • Proven ability to manage subcontractor safety compliance and enforcement activities.



  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.



  • Excellent organizational, documentation, and multitasking abilities.



  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.



  • Ability to maintain accurate records, reports, and compliance documentation.



  • Must meet company driving requirements and maintain a valid driver's license.



  • Ability to respond promptly to emergency situations as required.



  • Ability to travel as needed to support project and operational requirements.



  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical site inspections in active construction environments.




Education




  • High School Diploma or GED required.



  • Associate degree or higher preferred.




Work Experience




  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing safety programs within construction, industrial, or mission-critical project environments.



  • Experience overseeing safety operations on commercial new construction projects required.



  • Hyperscale data center experience strongly preferred.



  • Experience leading safety training programs, audits, investigations, and compliance initiatives.



  • Experience utilizing safety management systems and key performance indicators to drive continuous improvement.



  • Experience conducting hazard analyses, implementing corrective actions, and maintaining regulatory compliance.



  • Experience managing subcontractor safety performance and site-specific safety programs.

Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.)




  • Multiple project locations available with one Safety Manager assigned per site.



  • Typical start time is 7:00 AM.



  • Overtime is expected based on project schedules and operational demands.



  • Work is performed primarily within active commercial new construction and hyperscale data center environments.



  • Frequent field presence is required to conduct inspections, audits, observations, and safety oversight activities.



  • Ability to walk, climb, squat, bend, twist, reach, and navigate active construction sites safely.



  • Must maintain situational awareness and remain physically capable of working in dynamic construction environments.



  • Travel may be required based on project assignments and operational needs.




Preferred Certifications and Technical Experience




  • CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) certification or equivalent preferred.



  • OSHA OTI 500 Construction Outreach Trainer certification preferred.



  • OSHA 502, OSHA 3115 (Fall Protection), OSHA 7115 (Lockout/Tagout), or related safety certifications preferred.



  • Familiarity with OSHA training and compliance management systems.



  • Experience implementing and overseeing NFPA 70E electrical safety programs, arc flash protection requirements, and energized work permitting.



  • Knowledge of confined space entry standards, monitoring requirements, and hazard controls.



  • Experience managing fall protection programs, including harnesses, self-retracting lifelines, anchor systems, guardrails, and tie-off requirements.



  • Experience overseeing Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) safety operations, including scissor lifts, boom lifts, and telehandlers.



  • Familiarity with lockout/tagout procedures, isolation verification methods, and group lockout systems.



  • Experience utilizing gas detection equipment, environmental monitoring devices, and air quality monitoring systems.



  • Proficiency with incident management and reporting platforms such as Intelex, VelocityEHS, SiteDocs, Procore, or similar systems.



  • Knowledge of data center infrastructure hazards, including battery rooms, UPS systems, generators, electrical distribution systems, and related safety considerations.



  • Experience selecting, inspecting, and enforcing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, including respirators, flame-resistant clothing, and arc-rated protective equipment.



  • Ability to communicate effectively with field personnel, subcontractors, project leadership, and stakeholders at all organizational levels.
