Setting: Hybrid


Schedule: Monday- Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm


Status: Full-time/Non-Exempt/Non-Management

Summary:


The Benefits Generalist is responsible for day-to-day transactional, administrative, and clerical benefits and compliance functions, as well as providing exceptional customer service to all agency employees. Training other members on benefits, compliance, meetings, broker relations and open enrollment processes is a must for this role. This person must excel at making sure cross training is occurring consistently.



Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Data Entry:

    • Enter and update new employee information and status changes in HR databases, spreadsheets, and forms
    • Enter and update new employee benefits elections in carrier systems as needed
    • Ensure correct employee payroll deduction amounts are entered/updated in payroll system
    • Create and process HR-related reports within HRIS, benefit carriers and other systems


  • Clerical:

    • Scan and documents into appropriate employee files and folders; make photocopies, fax documents, and perform other clerical functions
    • Process required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record keeping and proper deductions
    • Create and maintain employee benefit files in electronic personnel file system and other systems as appropriate
    • Assist with processing invoices
    • Assist with annual open enrollment and new hire processes and ensure new enrollments and benefit changes are completed within deadlines
    • Serves in pool of back-up for receptionist, as needed


  • Coordinate and conduct portions of new employee orientation on an as-needed rotating basis along with other Human Resources team members
  • Train Director, and Bens Coordinator on all aspects of 403b, Benefits, and other discussions. Make them into experts as you learn to work together.
  • Must be willing and able to work at least 3 days a week in-office, work in an hourly capacity (with minimal unexpected time errors per month), and must be willing to transport to various sites to present benefits as needed for improved function of this offering.
  • May be required to fill in as receptionist, NEO facilitator (non-benefits segment), or NEO presenter on occasion (1x per month, less than 2 hours per month total most likely).
  • Must be willing to help with client visitors as needed due to past experienced with the subject, and ensure the safety team knows all practices.



Qualifications:



  • High School diploma or GED and minimum two years' relevant work experience required
  • Minimum one (1) year's experience with online benefits administration systems/HRIS preferred
  • Three plus (3+) years full cycle knowledge of benefits auditing, enrollment, OE, marketing, data entry etc. for an org over 500 FTEs serviced per year.
  • Excellent data entry skills required for efficiency and accuracy
  • Strong customer service orientation required; must possess a courteous and professional demeanor and exhibit good judgment when assisting/interacting with others
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information
  • Strong attention to detail required to produce thorough, accurate and high-quality work
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities, and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) required



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bilingual Spanish



Work Environment:



  • Primarily indoor office environment
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend and occasionally lift or carry up to 15 pounds
  • May necessitate working in busy and loud environments
  • May be exposed to elements like cold, heat, dust, noise, and odor
  • May need to bend, stoop, twist, and sit throughout the day
