The Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute's (HHRI) Restorative Neurotrauma Lab has a current opening for an experienced Research Assistant to support the research being conducted by Drs. David Darrow and Sam Cramer in the Division of Neurosurgery at HCMC. This is a casual position to work up to 20 hours per week during the summer with a scaled back commitment during the academic school year. This role requires a consistent onsite presence in downtown Minneapolis, MN. POSITION SUMMARY: The Research Assistant will be responsible for identifying, recruiting and interviewing research subjects for incorporation into research studies, will be involved in data collection and analysis, and may obtain informed consent. Documents and consistently maintains detailed records and research data and may enter into computer for further analysis. May administer and score psychological, intellectual, and/or other medical assessments and tests. May accurately disburse funds to study participants and accurately reconcile grant accounts. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS: Education/Experience: Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required skills and knowledge is qualifying. Typical qualifications would be completion of a bachelor's degree and one year or more experience in a related clinical area and/or research. Experience in clinical care and/or conducting clinical trials or health services research is preferred. Skill, Knowledge & Ability (SKA): Requires completing data analysis and management as well as other day-to-day clinical trial operations in a timely manner to meet strict deadlines. Skilled in basic computer and smartphone applications. Skilled in problem solving and keeping detailed records and files. Ability to communicate effectively with staff, research participants, and other stakeholders. Ability to adapt and be flexible, and the ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to work independently at varied off-site locations with remote contact from supervisor. Ability to work independently and within a team, be self-directed and motivated, and communicate effectively.
