POSITION SUMMARY:
The Research Fellow will conduct translational ocular immunology research focused on immune mechanisms of retinal injury, inflammation, neurodegeneration, and repair. The fellow will perform in vivo and in vitro studies using surgical parabiosis, immune-cell tracing, ocular injury models, retinal disease models, flow cytometry, imaging, and multi-omic approaches to define how microglia and peripheral immune cells contribute to retinal remodeling and degeneration. Responsibilities will include designing and executing experiments, analyzing and presenting data, reviewing literature, assisting with animal protocols and grants, and preparing manuscripts for publication. The goal of the position is to support the development of novel immune-targeted molecular therapies for retinal degenerative and inflammatory diseases. Education - PhD or equivalent ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Doctoral degree (MD or PhD) with more than 1 year of lab experience. WORKING CONDITIONS: Lab setting.
