Summary:

As a Labor & Delivery RN, you will provide compassionate, patient-centered care throughout labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. Using the nursing process, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for mothers and newborns while prioritizing clinical needs in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. You will collaborate closely with providers and the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, timely, and high-quality outcomes for both patients and families.

Type of Opportunity: Part time FTE: 0.60 Job Exempt: No Work Shift: 12 Hour Nights (United States of America)

Responsibilities:

  • Provides clinical oversight and prioritizes care in Labor & Delivery based on maternal and fetal acuity and unit needs.

  • Delivers direct, evidence-based care throughout labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum recovery, evaluating outcomes and adjusting care as needed.

  • Collaborates with physicians, anesthesia, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, timely maternal and neonatal outcomes.

  • Educates and supports patients and families throughout the childbirth experience, including labor, postpartum care, and newborn education.

  • Ensures understanding of patient rights, informed consent, and care options in a family-centered environment.

  • Provides patient and family education using appropriate teaching strategies and return demonstration.

  • Maintains competency in obstetric standards, evidence-based practice, and use of relevant clinical equipment.

  • Communicates effectively with patients and the care team, supporting collaboration and safe, high-quality care delivery.

  • Participates in on-call responsibilities as needed, including triage and emergent obstetric support.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Degree from an accredited nursing program required (programs under conditional status may be approved by System CNO).

  • Minimum Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.

  • Current New Mexico RN license or Compact State RN license required.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required for all RN roles (AHA, ASHI, or American Red Cross accepted).

  • Additional certifications required based on clinical area:

    • ACLS: ED, Critical Care, Cardiovascular Lab, GI Lab, Interventional Radiology, Progressive Care, Surgical Services (Pre-Op & Recovery Room)

    • NRP: Family Birthing Center, Labor & Delivery, NICU, Mother/Baby

    • PALS: Pediatrics/Children's Services, Cardiovascular Lab, ED, GI Lab, Interventional Radiology, Surgical Services (Pre-Op & Recovery Room)
