This is a 100% Contract position for 1 year with the possibility of extension. The University of California San Diego is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Head Coach for Women's Rowing. UC San Diego, located in La Jolla, in the San Diego Metropolitan area, enrolls over 35,000 students, earned recognition as one of the world's premier research universities, and is ranked as one of the top-10 public universities in the nation. UC San Diego Athletics has a proud tradition of academic and athletic excellence, sponsors 24 varsity sports, and is a NCAA Division I member of the Big West Conference. The Head Coach has responsibility for the overall operation of the Women's Rowing program in accordance with university, conference and NCAA regulations. The position is a 100% time, contract position with full benefits. The Head Coach must have a commitment to the philosophy of providing a competitive NCAA program that emphasizes integrity and the educational welfare of its student-athletes and strives for athletic excellence within the University's mission. Regular duties include coaching effectively in practices and successfully in competition's, developing student-athletes athletically and academically, organizing and implementing a recruiting plan, effectively utilizing scholarship funds to attract and retain top scholar-athletes, preparing and monitoring annual operational, recruiting, and scholarship budgets, participating in promotional and fundraising activities, and developing community and alumni support. Must have highly advanced and effective interpersonal, motivational and team leadership skills to work effectively with diverse scholar-athletes, parents, staff and alumni. The incumbent will follow the athletic philosophy consistent with that of the UC San Diego Athletic Department and NCAA, and a commitment to diversity in all of its forms.
