This Application Scientist role is based in the Carlsbad, CA laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for the analysis of diverse projects related to structural proteomics, small molecule, and biologics characterization. The role will include running demos for customers, customer presentations, and extensive travel to customer and internal R&D sites.



Responsibilities

    Create and validate new methods on the timsOmni, transfer methods to global Bruker demo labs, and work with R&D to develop and test new methodologies for structural proteomics.
  • Coordinate sample measurements with customers and produce high quality data and reports to communicate the performance of Bruker's instrument for the assays under consideration.
  • Support the commercial team with advanced technical information and presentations on-site or via Teams to support sales cases.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant products and software tools. Communicate regularly with the factory and regional applications team toobtaintimelyinformation on new products, software, and applications.
  • Develop application notes and scientific content that demonstrate the instruments' performance.
  • Travel to internal Bruker labs (US, Greece, Switzerland, and Germany) for training updates and support pre-sales applications work.


Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or closely related field or B.S. with equivalent experience including minimum 5 years' experience in related fields.
  • 5+ years hands-on LC-MS of complex mixtures of peptides and proteins or development experience in Pharma/Biopharma related industry. Experience with Bruker mass spectrometers, including timsOmni, preferred but not required.
  • Experience with mass spectrometry software.
  • Desire to work in an innovative environment and strong motivation to advance the application of Bruker technologies in structural proteomics.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to present results in support of sales efforts and marketing activities.
  • Excellent time management skills, and the ability to autonomously complete or oversee completion of projects to deadline.

At Bruker, the base salary is part of our total compensation. The estimated base salary range for this full-time position is between $88,000.00 and $141,000.00 and provides an opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base salary for the role will depend on several job-related factors, including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, the geographic location of the successful candidate, skills, competencies, job-related knowledge, and travel requirements for this position. Full-time employees may also be eligible for a performance-related incentive in addition to a full range of benefits, including 401(k) with company match, an employee stock purchase plan, medical and dental plans, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, employee assistance program and paid time off including vacation, sick time and holidays, and more.
