About this opportunity:

Ball State University Athletics seeks a highly motivated and energetic professional to join our softball program as an Assistant/Associate Softball Coach. Located in Muncie, Indiana, Ball State is a proud member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) and competes at the NCAA Division I level.

This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a championship-caliber program committed to competitive excellence, student-athlete development, and academic success. Working closely with the Head Softball Coach, the Assistant Coach will play an integral role in all aspects of the program, including on-field instruction, recruiting, player development, scouting, practice and game preparation, and administrative operations. Title for position will be determined based upon qualifications of the chosen candidate.

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

What you'll do and what you'll bring:

Position Function: Provide teaching and instruction to student-athletes; develop softball student-athletes on and off the field and assist the Head Coach with program management.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide teaching and instruction to student-athletes.

Perform duties in all areas of the program at the direction of the head coach, athletic director and/or sport supervisor.

Develop, in conjunction with the head coach, planning of practice sessions and competitive coaching situations.

Support cultivating a strong competitive recruit database, help manage and keep up to date filtering of recruiting software.

Assess and evaluate talent and recruitment of athletes into the program; includes contact by telephone and mail; off campus evaluations; on campus visits.

Oversee team travel arrangements.

Develop scouting reports and pre-competition evaluations of opponents.

Work in conjunction with head coach to implement fund raising opportunities on a yearly basis.

Oversee and direct all Ball State softball camps and clinics.

Supervise and mentor graduate assistant and/or volunteer assistant coaches.

Show commitment to and responsibility for adherence to all rules and regulations of Ball State University, the Mid-American Conference, and the NCAA; pass the NCAA certification examination on an annual basis.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Sports Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or a closely related field from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Collegiate playing experience at a competitive level and/or 5 years college coaching experience.

Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be insurable under the university's auto fleet policy.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree.
