Overview

The Cash Management and Reconciliation Accountant is responsible for daily cash management analysis & reporting, including recommendation to either borrow or pay down working capital line of credit. This role must perform bank reconciliations in a timely manner and ensure timely and accurate funds management through paper-based or electronic-based systems. Requires the ability to make quick analysis of funds requirements and to facilitate accurate bank account reconciliation and reporting.

Responsibilities



  • Monthly reconciliation of main MFA Oil Company and Subsidiaries' expense and deposit bank accounts within multiple accounting systems
  • Analyze and reconcile monthly bank statements for all divisions of company operations
  • Research location transaction differences in the appropriate accounting system; communicate with internal departments and company locations on problems and their resolution
  • Document all bank transactions, including internal transfers, lender/bank receipts, bank service charges and interest
  • Daily review, distribution and notification of return checks or overdrawn bank accounts to appropriate departments. Immediate reconciliation of overdrawn bank accounts to identify and resolve the problem
  • Daily review of all bank accounts to prepare and communicate daily cash report. In addition, use of this information to determine when to move money from outlying bank accounts into our main consolidated bank accounts
  • Work with bulk and propane locations utilizing the remote deposit system including setting up new locations, users, training, managing of existing users, and troubleshooting for locations needing help on the process, scanner or system
  • Field and research banking questions from company locations, district managers and home office employees
  • Responsible for ordering deposit slips/stamps for all company locations
  • Prepare documentation for annual audits
  • Daily communicate balances to management for all short-term loans, and interface with the sources of those loans
  • Interface regularly with banks, service providers and vendors
  • Assist in preparation of departmental policy and procedure manuals and provide for compliance
  • Monitor all aspects of our working capital line of credit and recommend decisions on borrowing or repaying with goal of minimizing debt to the Company
  • Understand, manage and supervise all aspects of cash flow

Job Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
  • One year of applicable experience
  • Good, working knowledge of GAAP and automated accounting systems and processes
  • Experience with auditing internal controls and procedures
  • Experience with automated accounting systems and procedures
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team
  • Ability to consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery including Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to learn new concepts and use technical materials
  • Ability to provide accurate and thorough work with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to meet and manage multiple deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Knowledge of good workflow principles
  • Ability to meet company requirements including successful pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check
  • Ability to exchange accurate information with co-workers, Board members, and customers in English
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States of America


Preferred Skills



  • MBA or CPA
  • JD Edwards or other major ERP system experience
  • Ability to meet deadlines with a high degree of time management skills
  • Ability to grasp new concepts quickly and work at a fast pace
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, growing organization and rapidly changing environment.
