Design Build Project Manager | Boston, MA

Responsibilities

    Lead major pursuits and contribute to the delivery of complex infrastructure projects.
  • Manage multiple, simultaneous efforts including projects of various topics and complexity
  • Develop, manage, and maintain project schedules and budgets
  • Lead development of project deliverables and provide quality control
  • Work directly with client project manager and maintain a good relationship
  • Manage financial progress through timely submitting invoices and progress reports and initiation of change orders for out-of-scope services
  • Prepare technical reports and analysis
  • Manage multidisciplinary teams
  • Take an active role in business development and identify new project opportunities
  • Manage and prepare technical and cost proposals
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations
  • Deliver projects from proposal development through design and construction support.
  • Provide leadership for project execution including scope development, technical approach, schedule, budget management, and quality performance.
  • Direct and mentor technical staff in the preparation of engineering designs, plans, specifications, cost estimates, reports, and bid documents.
  • Serve as a primary technical liaison with clients, subconsultants, and contractors, representing VHB in project meetings and technical discussions.
  • Support construction coordination by providing design guidance, addressing constructability considerations, and assisting with technical issue resolution during construction.
  • Support client coordination and assist in business development and project pursuits.
  • Contribute to team collaboration, mentorship, and the continued growth of the transportation practice.
  • Promote VHB's standards for technical excellence, project management, risk management, and quality delivery.

Skills & Abilities

  • Proven ability to coordinate with interdisciplinary teams such as Planning, Architecture, Environmental, Structural, Civil, Rail, and Traffic Engineering
  • Strong understanding of civil infrastructure and multi-discipline system integration
  • Technical experience in multiple disciplines (track, rail systems, grade crossings, stations structures, transit facilities, route design, right-of-way, clearances)
  • Experience in the management and delivery of alternative delivery contracts. Experience with projects involving operating transit and rail systems is preferred.
  • Excellent technical written and verbal communication skills and analytical skills

Minimum Requirements

  • BS degree in Engineering or a related field, MS preferred (a Masters degree maybe substituted for 2 years of experience)
  • 15+ years of progressive technical, project management, and leadership experience in transit and rail engineering.
  • Professional License or Certification; PE, PMP, CCM Etc.
  • Proven ability to manage a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience managing alternative delivery projects

The full-time annual base salary range for this position is $160,000 to $230,000. The base salary offered will be determined based on job-related factors, including geographic location, internal equity, experience, credentials, skills, education, work schedule, and other factors permitted by law. The posted salary range reflects base pay only. Additional compensation and benefits available to eligible employees are outlined in our Total Rewards Program.

Annual base salary is one component of VHB's Total Rewards package. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may receive annual incentive compensation bonuses, spot bonuses, and merit-based salary increases, providing opportunities to increase earnings beyond base pay.
