POSITION SUMMARY: KEMRON Environmental Services, Inc. is seeking experienced Truck Drivers to support current and upcoming environmental construction and remediation projects. Frequent overnight and out-of-state travel is required. Candidates may be considered from TX, TN, KY, NC, SC, VA, WV, and surrounding areas. Project locations, schedules, durations, and start dates will vary based on business needs. The Truck Driver operates trucks to transport materials, equipment, supplies, and/or personnel between project sites, staging areas, disposal locations, vendors, and other assigned locations. This position may operate articulated dump trucks, water trucks, and other heavy trucks in both on-road and off-road conditions. The Truck Driver may also load or unload trucks, perform routine inspections and minor maintenance, assist with traffic control, and provide general site support as directed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
- Safely operate trucks of various sizes and weights, including articulated dump trucks, water trucks, and other heavy trucks.
- Drive and maneuver trucks in on-road and off-road conditions, including rough terrain, slopes, backing areas, dumping areas, and active work zones.
- Load, haul, dump, spray, pump, and perform other truck-related functions as assigned.
- Determine safe and efficient truck operation based on site conditions, truck capabilities, and daily production needs.
- Perform required pre-trip, post-trip, and routine vehicle inspections.
- Perform basic preventive maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment.
- Report vehicle, equipment, maintenance, or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Maintain assigned vehicles and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
- Complete required vehicle inspection reports, driver logs, hauling records, manifests, and other documentation.
- Follow designated haul routes, traffic-control plans, disposal procedures, and site-specific instructions.
- Assist with the installation and maintenance of traffic-control devices.
- Control traffic at work sites by flagging or following flagger direction, as required.
- Provide onsite assistance as a laborer and/or technician when requested to support project work.
- Follow all KEMRON, OSHA, DOT, client, and site-specific safety policies and procedures.
- Work safely around equipment, vehicles, subcontractors, and site personnel.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Clear five-year motor vehicle record and ability to meet KEMRON vehicle insurance requirements.
- Minimum of five years of experience operating articulated dump trucks and/or other heavy trucks.
- Minimum of two years of experience related to environmental construction, remediation, heavy construction, or similar field work.
- Knowledge of truck-operating principles, including safe loading, backing, dumping, positioning, and travel on slopes or rough terrain.
- Ability to safely operate vehicles and equipment under varying site and weather conditions.
- Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, hazards, and safety precautions used in environmental remediation and construction work.
- Ability to perform routine inspections and identify basic maintenance or repair needs.
- Ability to complete required driver logs, inspection reports, and other project documentation accurately.
- Ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to meet attendance requirements with dependability and consistency.
- Ability to work closely, safely, and respectfully with site personnel without continuous supervision.
- Good judgment and the ability to remain alert and observant of surroundings.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Work is performed primarily at active outdoor construction and environmental remediation sites.
- May be exposed to rain, extreme heat, cold, wet conditions, humidity, vibration, dust, asphalt, hazardous materials, moving equipment, vehicles, and loud noise.
- Must be able to safely perform manual work requiring physical exertion.
- Must be able to sit and operate a vehicle or equipment for extended periods.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, talk, listen, and use hands to operate tools, controls, and equipment.
- Must be able to safely enter and exit trucks and equipment repeatedly throughout the workday.
- Must be able to walk safely over uneven, muddy, unstable, or sloped terrain.
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
- Must have good eyesight, depth perception, eye-hand coordination, and judgment to safely perform assigned tasks.
- Must be able to remain constantly alert to surrounding vehicles, equipment, personnel, and changing site conditions.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment for extended periods.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Frequent overnight and out-of-state travel is required.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, extended shifts, and adjusted schedules based on project requirements.
- Current Commercial Driver's License preferred. A valid CDL may be required for certain vehicles or project assignments.
- Current DOT medical card may be required based on the vehicle operated.
- Must be able to meet applicable DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements when required.
- Current 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training preferred.
- Current 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher training preferred.
- Current First Aid and CPR training preferred.
- Must pass required medical monitoring and HAZWOPER physical examinations.
- For specific project tasks, must pass medical requirements for work involving respiratory protection, including air-purifying and supplied-air respirators.
- Must read, understand, and follow KEMRON Corporate and worksite Health and Safety Plans.
- Must understand and follow KEMRON standard operating procedures for assigned tasks.
