Executive SummaryThe Director, HomeGrown - Buy provides strategic leadership for Duke University's HomeGrown - Buy initiative, advancing Duke's economic mobility strategy through intentional local sourcing, supplier development, and community engagement across Duke University Health System (DUHS) and Duke University (DU). Reporting through Shared Services, this position develops, implements, and sustains a best-in-class HomeGrown - Buy program aligned with Duke's strategic sourcing, financial stewardship, and operational excellence objectives. The Director partners with Strategic Sourcing, Business Owners, Community Affairs, Finance, the Shared Services Contracting Office, and external organizations to expand Duke's local supplier ecosystem, identify sourcing opportunities, and deliver measurable economic impact while balancing quality, service, compliance, risk, and total value. Work Environment This position requires the willingness and ability to effectively lead in a dynamic, evolving environment while balancing multiple strategic priorities across Duke University and Duke University Health System. The Director must be comfortable working in a hybrid environment that includes both in-person and remote work arrangements and be available to attend meetings, community events, supplier engagements, and executive presentations as required. Occasional travel throughout Durham, the Triangle region, and North Carolina is expected.
