Responsible for providing professional nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The IR Nurse must demonstrate clinical competence, particularly in caring for critically ill patients in a peri-procedural environment. This role requires confident decision-making and the ability to respond to changing patient conditions.

I. Major Responsibilities:

1. Complete comprehensive patient assessments, including history, physical, psychosocial, and perception of illness.
2. Develop and document individualized nursing care plans.
3. Provide patient care based on nursing plans, policies, and standards; initiate emergency interventions as needed.
4. Evaluate patient and family needs and adjust care and teaching plans accordingly.
5. Organize work efficiently, anticipate changes, and provide accurate shift reports.

II. Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:

Required:
1. Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing (Associate Degree, Diploma, or BSN).
2. Current RN license in Massachusetts.
3. Current CPR and ACLS certifications.

Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. Minimum of 1 year experience in Interventional Radiology or 1 year of adult ICU/ED experience.
2. Ability to wear lead aprons for extended periods during procedures.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
