We do all of this in a supportive, collaborative environment where you can grow your career in a way that fits into your life.

How can you make an impact?

The Basic Science Editor will take the strategic and operational ownership for Basic Science print and digital titles. This is a critical time in medical education, and the editor must understand and be able to continue to adapt the approach and format of the basic science list to "today's students". In addition to the Basic Science list, the Senior Editor will be responsible for additional products such as Mortuary Science as well handling the Lange Q&A Series including Mammography, Physician Assistant and Surgical Technology.

This is a remote position open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States.

What you will be doing:

  • Set strategic course for the basic science
  • Assume direct oversight and responsibility for legendary classic texts including Ganong, Katzung, Junquira and Harpers. Additionally, oversee the Basic Science and Lange Q&A Series
  • Establish key contacts in the basic sciences to provide reviews and feedback on trends and student behavior
  • Regularly create student focus groups to stay in touch with students needs
  • Take an active role with AI technology such as AI Reader, as the basic sciences are a core part of MHP AI Strategy.
  • Establish a revision plan for the core 15-20 titles and propose new projects, factoring in important pub dates as the market has demanded 2-3 year revisions on specific titles.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Bachelor's degree required, with 7-10+ years of experience in editorial content development and acquisitions, preferably within medical publishing, and demonstrated expertise in digital content development and product management.
  • Proven ability to manage high-profile author teams, lead product development initiatives, and oversee projects requiring strong analysis, strategic planning, and execution.
  • Strong business negotiation, partner management, contract negotiation, and implementation skills, with the ability to build and maintain successful professional relationships.
  • Excellent project management skills, including managing cross-functional collaboration across internal departments and effectively handling multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including strong writing and presentation capabilities.
  • Advanced digital capabilities, including proficiency with CRM platforms such as Salesforce.com, and the ability to leverage technology to support business and content objectives.
