Salary Range: 16.31+.45 shift differential Status: Non-Exempt Days/Shifts: 2nd Location: Bessemer City: Reports to: Production Manager GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE: This position is responsible for inspecting, reworking, and packing bags/trays of product to achieve daily production standards while producing safe quality food (SQF). MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS / DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES: EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in a food processing facility is preferred but not required. We are willing to provide training. A general understanding of plant operations and various departments is beneficial.
SKILLS: Good communication skills are essential. The ability to be a self-starter and demonstrate initiative is necessary. Candidates must be capable of learning new tasks quickly and willing to cross train within the packaging area.
ADDITIONAL: Must be able to work hands-on in a fast-paced, team-oriented food processing environment. The ability to work independently with limited supervision is required. Regular and acceptable attendance is expected, along with the ability to follow instructions, interact well with coworkers, and adhere to posted work rules and procedures. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is conducted in a cool environment with an average temperature of 34F. Concentrated chlorine and concealed ammonia is present in the area. Work surfaces and floors may be wet. Employees are required to always wear approved shoes and protective equipment. Workers must be able to lift to 10 lbs. unassisted for up to one-third of the workday and lift 6 lbs. overhead as necessary for job duties. The position requires constant standing on a concrete floor, along with reaching, bending, stooping, and performing repetitively. hand movements. Additionally, moving machinery, including conveyors and forklifts, operates in the immediate vicinity. WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to work overtime, weekends, rotating shifts preferred/required.
