Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Operate all types of tools essential and necessary to the job, including but not limited to, hand drill, hammer, needle gun, caulk gun, chisel, utility knives, putty scraper, disk sander, rivet gun, impact wrench, huck gun, router, grinder and tape measure. Other duties as necessary.
  • Prepare metal surfaces. Clean trailer components with solvents.
  • Caulk all required trailer seams and joints.
  • Position and fasten parts together with bolts, screws, rivets or other fasteners. Assemble sub-assemblies such as, but not limited to, brake hoses, light boxes, axles, air brake systems, nose boxes, wiring harnesses, tire-rim mounting, doors, walls, etc. Drill through aluminum, steel and wood.
  • Perform measurement layouts per blue prints.
  • Perform all assigned tasks in a safe, efficient, timely, accurate and highly productive manner according to company policy.
  • Contribute to the team effort to produce a quality product.
  • Attend scheduled work hours on a regular and timely basis. Maintain good attendance.
  • Ability to work mandatory overtime.
  • Perform road critical safety inspections if applicable in above-listed job
  • Perform measurement layouts per blueprints
  • Operate overhead cranes
  • Operate additional motorized equipment or vehicles as needed
  • Must be able to troubleshoot equipment and tools relevant to performing Level IV positions
  • Operation of specialized machines or carrying out of specialized processes (D4 Machine; critical bolt installs; decal application as needed
  • Following the appropriate training period and experience, employees in the Assembler IV role may develop the ability or train to perform the following items:

    • Coach/mentor people in the assigned areas
    • Assist in ensuring process are being correctly followed
    • Coordinate with Material Control and Maintenance effectively
    • Knowledge of Syteline and shop track; coordinate WIP moves
    • Fluency and translation/interpreting abilities in multiple languages (if applicable)

    • Must be able to troubleshoot equipment and tools relevant to performing Level IV positions
    • Must be able to identify and correct or alert management to critical quality or critical road safety situations relating to your assigned area or parts/processes that come through your area
    • Must be able to perform each essential function and responsibility of the job satisfactorily in accordance with company productivity and quality requirements.
    • Must be able to work at a fast pace, experiment, and express opinions regarding work methods and blueprints. Be accountable for errors.
    • Must have 6-12 months related experience and/or training.
    • Must maintain high standards of quality and work performance, including direct assistance to supervisor as needed.
    • Must be able to read and understand blueprints, tape measures and company documents for area.
    • Must have basic math skills
