GENERAL SUMMARY:

Responsible for the planning, implementation, and optimization of facilities operations while driving long-term infrastructure strategy across the Bryan Medical Center (BMC) campuses. Responsible for the administration of all facilities management functions including maintenance, engineering, capital infrastructure project execution, organizational change initiatives, and grounds ensuring alignment with organizational strategy, financial objectives, and regulatory requirements. Leads and develops the facilities maintenance, facilities projects and engineering teams and leaders responsible for execution, and ensures the reliability, compliance, quality, and optimization of facility operations and infrastructure strategy.



PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. *Plans, organizes, directs and controls the functions and 24-hour operations of the Bryan Medical Center (BMC) Facilities Management departments including maintenance, engineering, infrastructure strategy, project execution, change management, and grounds.






  1. *Creates, revises and maintains BMC departmental policy and procedure manuals.






  1. *Develops and maintains BMC departmental job descriptions.






  1. *Leads departmental budgeting, financial oversight, and resource allocation for both operating and capital expenditures, identifying opportunities for cost efficiency and performance improvement.






  1. *Hires, promotes, disciplines and evaluates BMC departmental personnel; champions the development of innovative internal trade and technical workforce programs to build and sustain critical skills and knowledge needed to support safe and reliable operations.






  1. *Manages BMC departmental activities to ensure compliance with applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations including Joint Commission standards.






  1. *Directs the implementation, configuration, and optimization of the CMMS platform, ensuring it serves as the foundation for data-driven facilities operations, work order management, and reliability maintenance






  1. *Integrates regulatory compliance requirements into daily workflows using lean principles, ensuring consistent interpretation and application of CMS, Joint Commission, NFPA, OSHA and other applicable standards.






  1. *Advances risk-based capital planning and facility condition assessment processes to prioritize resources, reduce deferred maintenance, and improve long-term facility reliability and patient safety






  1. *Leads the development and execution of long-term infrastructure strategies for the BMC campuses, aligning facilities investments with organizational priorities and patient care needs Creates an environment of collaboration between the various entities of the health system to implement best practices for the various facility departments.






  1. Directs the creation, accuracy, and editing of facilities as-built drawings and life safety prints.






  1. Manages vendor and contractor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure high-quality service delivery for facility operations and capital projects.






  1. Collaborates with clinical leaders, department directors, and executive teams to align facilities strategies with operational and patient care goals.






  1. Supports emergency preparedness and response efforts related to facilities and infrastructure in coordination with hospital incident command.






  1. Drives process optimization initiatives, change management efforts, and continuous improvement to enhance operational efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve workflows for clinical and support teams.






  1. *Hires, trains, supervises, disciplines, and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel; establishes and maintains job descriptions for areas of responsibility.






  1. *Manages departmental activities to ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws and accreditation standards.






  1. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.






  1. Participates in and/or leads meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.






  1. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:




  1. Knowledge of local, state and federal laws and regulations related to facilities management.






  1. Knowledge of maintenance, engineering, infrastructure strategy, and capital project management methods and practices.






  1. Knowledge of the standards of the Joint Commission as they pertain to facilities management.






  1. Knowledge of quality improvement, budgetary and financial methods and practices.






  1. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.






  1. Knowledge of customer service philosophies and practices.






  1. Knowledge of engineering and architectural drawings, drafting standards, CAD software and facilities documentation management.






  1. Ability to lead and direct organizational change and drive innovation, including the adoption of innovative technologies (ex. CMMS implementation), processes, workforce development and compliance integration across facilities teams and the broader organization.






  1. Ability to lead and execute complex projects from planning through implementation, including capital projects and infrastructure initiatives.






  1. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel, medical staff, volunteer and ancillary departments including diverse patient populations.






  1. Ability to develop written policies and procedures, memoranda and performance evaluations with measurable behaviors.






  1. Ability to read, interpret and edit technical drawings and as-built documentation to support regulatory compliance and infrastructure strategy.






  1. Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and work as a team member.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree required with preference in Facilities Management, Engineering, Project Management, or a closely related field. A technical associate's degree paired with a bachelor's degree focused on Business, Leadership, or Management will be considered with relevant progressive experience. Minimum of five (5) years of progressive facilities leadership experience required. This includes direct facilities management, plant operations, infrastructure oversight, capital project leadership, or senior-level project management of facilities and capital project initiatives. Experience in a hospital or healthcare environment of 150+ beds is strongly preferred.



OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:

Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) and/or Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC) certification strongly preferred. Additional relevant certifications are preferred (ex. Project Management Professional (PMP), Lean/Six Sigma, Certified Energy Manager (CEM), LEED or technical licenses).



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

(Physical Requirements are based on federal criteria and assigned by Human Resources upon review of the Principal Job Functions.)

(DOT) - Characterized as light work requiring exertion up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
