GLOBAL INVESTMENT RESEARCH
From macroeconomic forecasts to individual stock analysis, our team develops tools and insights to help shape investment strategies for clients and the firm. Our analysts work on client-focused research in the equity, fixed-income, currency, and commodities markets, mining big data that enters markets around the world each day to identify game-changing insights. You'll be part of a team that is intellectually curious, creative, analytical, and passionate about performing market research.

Key Responsibilities

Working closely with the Senior Analyst and other members of the Insurance Research team, the Associate will:

  • Develop Deep Sector Expertise: Build and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the Life Insurance sector, including product structures (e.g., annuities, universal life, term), regulatory frameworks, and actuarial concepts.
  • Architect & Maintain Financial Models: Build, update, and rigorously maintain detailed, integrated financial models (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) and valuation frameworks for covered companies.
  • Analyze Complex Data Sets: Interpret regulatory filings (including statutory filings and GAAP/LDTI disclosures), macroeconomic indicators, and industry trends to generate actionable insights.
  • Draft High-Impact Research: Contribute significantly to the writing and production of fundamental research reports, including quarterly earnings previews/reviews, company-specific deep dives, and thematic industry pieces.
  • Support the Franchise: Respond efficiently to ad hoc inquiries from institutional clients, the equity sales force, trading desks, and company investor relations teams.
  • Collaborate Globally: Partner with broader GIR teams to share insights, leverage data analytics tools, and contribute to cross-sector research initiatives.

Basic Qualifications

  • Analytical Rigor: Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills, with a strong foundation in accounting and corporate finance.
  • Communication Excellence: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced mastery of Microsoft Excel; experience with market data tools (e.g., FactSet, Bloomberg, Reuters) is highly preferred.
  • Detail Orientation: Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to delivering institutional-grade work under tight deadlines.
  • Team-First Mindset: Strong collaborative spirit, with a focus on supporting the collective goals of the research franchise.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience in equity research, investment banking, actuarial consulting, rating agencies, or corporate finance within the insurance industry.
  • Product & Accounting Knowledge: Solid working knowledge of Life Insurance products, reserve analysis, and insurance-specific accounting standards (GAAP, Statutory, and LDTI).
  • Franchise Focus: A professional who is energized by the challenge of building world-class models and research infrastructure, and who is committed to a collaborative, long-term associate career path.
  • Agility: Ability to multi-task, prioritize effectively, and take initiative in a fast-paced, dynamic market environment
