Surgical Technology Program Director- Potomac State College

West Virginia University's Potomac State College (WVU PSC) campus, located in Keyser, West Virginia, offers a 2-year associate's program in Surgical Technology. The College is seeking to fill the position of a 12-month, non-tenure-track Surgical Technology Program Director for this program. The Surgical Technology Program Director will assume the authority and responsibility for all administrative aspects of the department and will report directly to Chair of STEM. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: providing leadership in formulation of the department administrative policies; preparing and managing the departmental budget in consultation with the Dean and WVU PSC Chief Business Officer; initiating and managing the accreditation of the program, coordinating and teaching surgical technology courses within the program, and coordinating clinical rotations for applicable surgical technology courses.

• Bachelor's degree in Surgical Technology or an Associate's degree and tested experience.
• Previous college teaching experience is valued.

Responsibilities/duties

• Curriculum Development and Management:
• Develop, review, and update the curriculum to align with industry standards, accreditation requirements, and best practices.
• Implement innovative teaching methodologies to enhance student learning outcomes.
• Ensure the integration of theory with clinical practice to provide a comprehensive educational experience.
• Program Administration:
• Oversee day-to-day operations of the Surgical Technology Program, including budget management, resource allocation, and scheduling.
• Coordinate with faculty and staff to ensure smooth functioning of the program.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to program activities, student progress, and outcomes assessment.
• Clinical Coordination:
• Establish and maintain affiliations with clinical sites for student rotations.
• Supervise and evaluate students during clinical experiences to ensure competency and compliance with program requirements.
• Collaborate with clinical partners to evaluate and improve the quality of clinical education.
• Faculty and Staff Management:
• Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate faculty and staff to maintain a high-quality educational program.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for faculty and staff.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the program.
• Student Support and Advising:
• Provide academic and career advising to students to support their success and progression through the program.
• Monitor student progress and intervene as needed to address academic, clinical, or personal challenges.
