Hourly Pay Range:

$36.00 - $55.80 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

  • Sign on bonus: None
  • Position: RN - Wound Care
  • Location: Chicago, IL
  • Full Time (40 hrs/week)
  • Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm; rotating weekends of on-call/phone triage and rotating holiday coverage for inpatient
  • Required Travel: None

General Summary:

In the inpatient setting, the Wound Care Registered Nurse provides direct care for patients admitted to the hospital with wounds or who develop wounds during their stay. The RN accepts responsibility and accountability for assigned patients, assesses patients appropriately, initiates pressure injury prevention therapies and implements wound therapies. The RN acts as a resource to the unit-based nurses in the area of advanced wound treatment.Weekend on call and holiday duties shared among RN staff.

What you will do:

  • Assess and evaluatepatients with acute or chronic wounds
  • Assess and evaluate patients with ostomies
  • Initiate treatments as ordered by the provider; including advanced modalities such as skin substitutes and negative pressure wound therapy
  • Collaborate with other health care providers as part of a team toensure appropriate plan of care
  • Engage in case management for continuity of care for the patient
  • Participate in quality improvement projects

What you will need:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Registered Nurse with current state license in good standing
  • One (1) year prior experience in an acute care setting
  • Wound Care Certification is preferred or direct, relevant clinical experience required.
  • Experience in ambulatory care desirable
  • American Heart Association BLS Certification
  • Able to complete a two-person lift to examination chair
