THE POSITION

Are you looking for a chance to use your electrical expertise to support the mission readiness of the Fort Indiantown Gap Airbase? As an Electrician 1, you will join a team committed to maintaining safe and reliable infrastructure. Your skills will support the daily operation and safety of the installation. This position with the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) lets you work directly with important electrical systems that keep the airbase functioning. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role focuses on maintaining and repairing electrical systems at the Fort Indiantown Gap Airbase to ensure dependable operation. As an Electrician 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Electrical Repairs: Troubleshoot, repair, replace, maintain, install, and modify de-energized electrical systems and components
  • Power Coordination: Coordinate planned electrical power interruptions with facility occupants before performing maintenance
  • System Testing: Perform tests to confirm proper operation and determine causes of electrical malfunctions
  • Code Compliance: Interpret test results to verify systems meet current National Electric Code requirements
  • Equipment Inspection: Use testing devices to locate faults and maintain monitoring equipment such as detectors and sump pumps
  • Emergency Actions: Respond to off-duty electrical emergencies to protect lives and property

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment (7.5 hours per day; 37.5 hours per week)
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM (1st shift), Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This may change based on operational needs.
  • Overtime as operationally necessary
  • As an essential employee in this position, you may be required to work during emergencies or office closings.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Electrician Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, components, and equipment; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement:
  • This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.

Additional Requirements:
  • You must pass a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap Air National Guard Airbase.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
