| Essential Job Duties |
The primary purpose of this position is to provide support to our Turf & Grounds supervisors. The qualified candidate will be involved in all aspects of Turf and Grounds and Facility management. This will include but is not limited to preparing athletic fields and facilities for practices, games and special events; performing day-to-day maintenance on facilities equipment; and working athletic and special events as scheduled.
This position is directly responsible for all aspects of Turf & Grounds management to include but are not limited to mowing, fertilizing, seeding, sodding, top dressing, verti-cut, pruning, grading, and watering. This position determines the maintenance products and processes needed to repair the department's grounds equipment and automatic irrigation system.
This position must have an understanding of safety procedures and regulations as it relates to turfgrass and facility management. Facility preparation for athletic and special events are to exacting specifications to ensure the highest level of safety for participants and spectators. This job must also have the ability to lift 30-60 pounds frequently and 90 pounds occasionally. |
| Other Responsibilities |
This position has designated as Essential Personnel for the University and may be required to report to work during adverse weather conditions even though the University may be operating on an alternate schedule. This position may assist with snow and ice removal under the direction of a supervisor.
Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs of the organization and evolving priorities. |
Qualifications
| Minimum Experience/Education |
High school or General Educational Development (
GED) diploma and possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualifications: North Carolina Pesticide License may be required and can be obtained within six months of employment; North Carolina Commercial Driver's License may be required. |
