IMEG, formerly Optimized Systems, is hiring a Senior Commissioning Authority in Omaha, NE. This role is responsible for performing the full range of commissioning responsibilities on all building types, including large, complex projects, while leading retro-commissioning and energy assessment projects. With a controls focus, the role prepares commissioning plans and specifications, supports project documentation in Cx Alloy, and leads design reviews, site observations, functional testing, and reporting.

In this role, you will collaborate with engineers and experienced staff to develop high-quality documentation, support controls programming, and systems integration, and provide implementation, troubleshooting, startup, and commissioning support.

What You'll Do

  • Manage and/or support multiple commissioning projects, including client interface, team coordination, schedule management, and budget management.

  • Prepare commissioning plans and specifications and support web-based project management and documentation in Cx Alloy.

  • Perform commissioning reviews of construction documents and equipment submittals.

  • Perform technical analysis of building operation, including controls and sequences.

  • Lead construction meetings, perform jobsite field observations, and write detailed field reports.

  • Manage issues and support post-occupancy follow-up activities.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, proactively communicate with client stakeholders, and supervise and mentor less-experienced employees in a team-based atmosphere.

  • Support controls programming, systems integration, testing, troubleshooting, startup, and commissioning activities.

  • Develop and test control sequences, programming, graphics, and system functionality based on project requirements and engineered documents.

  • Integrate new and existing equipment and control systems using common industry communication protocols and third-party interfaces.

  • Investigate existing control systems and identify opportunities to improve programing, graphics, consistency, and performance.

  • Collaborate with engineers, clients, vendors, and project teams to successfully deliver controls projects.

  • Review control drawings, sequences of operation, and related project documentation.

  • General problem solving and other duties as needed.

What You'll Bring

Required

Education and Experience

Qualifications (one of the following):

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required

  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in Commissioning or in the Mechanical Electrical Plumbing (MEP) consulting industry, or equivalent

OR

  • 11 years of experience minimum required, 12 preferred, in Commissioning or in the Mechanical Electrical Plumbing (MEP) design consulting industry, or equivalent

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong oral and written skills and a proven ability to interact professionally with a wide a range of clients

  • Experienced knowledge of HVAC and electrical system designs and operations

  • Experienced knowledge of building automation and lighting control systems

  • Experienced with building automation and related control systems

  • Experienced with controls programming, systems integration , or troubleshooting

  • Ability to understand and interpret control drawings, sequences of operation, schematics, P&IDs, or other related technical documentation

  • Working knowledge of controls communication protocols and equipment integration.

  • Experienced in the review of construction documents (mechanical, controls, plumbing and electrical drawings, specifications, etc.)

  • Knowledge of construction industry safety practices and procedures

  • Experienced in troubleshooting of field devices and control hardware and software

  • Capable of self-performing functional testing of building MEP systems and coordinates non-standard test scopes such as technology, BECx, etc

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Ability to travel up to 30%*

*travel will depend on project needs and may vary widely

Preferred

  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification preferred

  • Recognized Building Commissioning Certification preferred (or ability and desire to obtain one)

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds

  • Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull

  • Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises

  • Ability to climb ladders and safely maneuver around construction sites
