Overview
The Rutgers Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies (formerly Rutgers Center for Tobacco Studies) is undergoing dynamic and transformative growth. The Rutgers Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies is one of the nation's leading tobacco focused research centers and its faculty have received over $50 million in extramural funding over the past two decades. The Institute's efforts are focused on their mission of reducing and ultimately eliminating, tobacco-related morbidity and mortality.

Five Centers or Programs currently operate at the Institute including a Tobacco Center for Regulatory Science, the Center of Excellence for Rapid Surveillance of Tobacco, the Tobacco Dependence Program, a Tobacco Industry Marketing Program, and a Tobacco Control Law & Policy Resource Center.
Posting Summary
Rutgers is seeking a Post Doctoral Associate for the Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies, located in New Brunswick, NJ. Under the direction of Institute Faculty, the Post Doctoral Associate supports and conducts research for the Institute of Nicotine and Tobacco Studies ( INTS).

Duties include:

  • Participates in various activities associated with assigned research projects(s) including conducting literature reviews, development of study materials, various data collection activities, preliminary data analysis, and implementation of other activities as assigned to ensure conformance with the project's goals and objectives.
  • Participates in dissemination efforts, such as preparing written reports, presentations, and peer-reviewed manuscripts based on findings from the assigned project(s) and other research at INTS.
  • May participate in new grant submissions that build on existing programmatic research at INTS and/or individual's research interests if deemed appropriate.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Doctoral degree in Public Health, Behavioral Science, Communication, Health Services Research, Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, or a related discipline.
  • Applicants in All But Degree Status will be considered for interviews.
  • Possess good organization and documentation skills.
  • Demonstrate good communication skills.
  • Be comfortable working accurately in a deadline driven work environment.
  • Be able to prioritize and quickly learn new techniques and work independently, with careful attention to detail.
  • Be accessible by email.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with tobacco control and/or cannabis control and/or alcohol control.
  • Strong analytic skills.
  • Existing publication track record and excellent oral and written communication skills.
