Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Library Supervisor I for the Carr Library NB.
Under the general direction of the Head of New Brunswick Access Services, the Library Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations within a designated New Brunswick library branch to ensure a high standard of public and staff services. The Library Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining a welcoming, organized, and user-focused environment while supporting the library's mission and strategic goals. This includes delivery of circulation, inter/intra-library loan, and other library services to patrons.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Provides leadership to library support staff, coordinates work schedules, monitors service quality, and ensures adherence to library policies and procedures.
- Serves on management teams that recommend policy.
- Plans the direction of the library or service unit, and implement projects.
- Resolves operational and patron issues and handles crises.
- Ensures the security, functionality, and availability of buildings, equipment, and library collections.
- Manages budgets; provides expenditure reports; statistical analysis of data; and annual, midyear, and project reports for the area of responsibility.
- Trains and supervises professional staff.
- Analyzes workflows and procedures and develops and revises procedure manuals.
- Writes job descriptions and evaluates performance.
- Oversees payroll preparation.
- Performs additional duties that require knowledge of library science principles and practices.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge, understanding, and competency in library science/library operations including circulation, classification, original and copy cataloging and bibliographic systems, formats, rules, guidelines, and standards.
- Two (2) years of experience performing supervisory and one or more library activities.
