Your Job

As part of Molex's strategic investment in CAEPlus and the ongoing development of next-generation AI data center thermal management solutions, this position will operate in a unique collaboration model between the two organizations. While employed by Molex and receiving all Molex employment benefits, the successful candidate will work closely with the CAEPlus team and focus primarily on advancing CAEPlus technologies, products, and innovation initiatives. This role offers the entrepreneurial environment of a growing technology venture combined with the resources, stability, and engineering expertise of a global industry leader.

This role leads the mechanical design, product validation, and manufacturing development of BoundaryCool thermal management solutions for the CAEPlus Phase I program. The engineer will own the detailed design of cold plates, active module integration geometry, and manufacturing drawings - driving the full product development lifecycle from concept through prototype validation. Working directly with the CAEPlus founder and cross-functional program team, this individual will apply expertise across precision machining, materials, and thermal hardware design to bring a breakthrough active cooling platform to market.

What You Will Do

  • Set up and operate CNC milling machines (Tormach, Haas, or equivalent) to machine copper, aluminum, and other metallic or plastic components
  • Interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, and setup requirements
  • Machine parts to close tolerances using appropriate gauges and inspection techniques
  • Operate manual machining equipment including lathe, drill press, band saw, and related shop machinery to complement CNC production work.
  • Support laser cutting, laser welding, and laser etching operations as a secondary operator
  • Document setup details, operation parameters, and process notes for each job using written descriptions, sketches, and photos.
  • Maintain quality and safety standards while keeping accurate production records
  • Maintain lab equipment, tooling, and consumable inventory
  • Train and support junior operators and apprentices
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support shop and business needs

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • 3+ years of experience in manual machining (lathe, drill press, band saw, etc.), and CNC setup and operation
  • Hands-on experience operating Tormach, Haas, or equivalent CNC milling machine
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, tolerances, and GD&T callouts
  • Experience with tapping, polishing, and surface finishing operations
  • Experience using conversational programming on CNC machines
  • Proficiency in measuring and inspection techniques for tight tolerances (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
  • Experience assembling precision mechanical and electromechanical components
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and with limited supervision
  • Strong problemsolving and analytical skills
  • Strong work ethic with a sense of urgency and commitment to teamwork
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as required

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience with copper machining (C110, C145, or equivalent high-conductivity alloys)
  • Proficiency with Fusion 360, Mastercam, or equivalent CAM software
  • Experience with PathPilot or Haas controller programming
  • Familiarity with laser machining processes
  • Familiarity with thermal test rig assembly and instrumentation setup
  • Familiarity with liquid cooling system components (pumps, fittings, cold plates, and heat exchangers)
  • Experience with data acquisition systems (NI DAQ, Keysight, or equivalent)

For this role, we anticipate paying $XXXXX - $XXXXX per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
