Position Summary

The Executive Director of Finance oversees the organization's Finance Department and serves as a strategic partner to the Board and senior leadership. This role leads financial planning, analysis, budgeting, treasury management, financial policy development, and strategic forecasting for a rapidly growing prime contracting organization. The Executive Director of Finance ensures strong financial stewardship, supports long-term organizational growth, and provides financial insights that drive executive decision-making.

What You'll Do

Financial Strategy & Planning



  • Lead the company's financial planning, including development of forecasts, annual budgets, long-term financial planning, and cash/LOC requirements.
  • Partner with the Board and senior leaders to prepare annual budgets and deliver monthly forecast updates.
  • Review departmental budgets across the organization and ensure adherence to financial plans.
  • Analyze financial climate and market trends to support strategic planning for the Board and senior leadership.
  • Interpret complex financial information and provide clear insights, updates, and recommendations.


Treasury, Cash Flow & Financial Management



  • Manage the treasury function, including cash flow planning, LOC position, loans, investments, and liquidity strategies.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with banks, lenders, service providers, and contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable financial rules, regulations, and laws.
  • Determine investment strategies by evaluating cash positions, liquidity risks, and long-term financial needs.


Financial Reporting & Policy Leadership



  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial performance reporting and alert senior leaders and the Board when immediate action is required.
  • Update, implement, and maintain organizational financial policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate closely with the Accounting Department and provide support during month-end, quarterly, and annual reporting cycles when needed.
  • Supports the Accounting Department during government-required filings (e.g., ICS, PBR)
  • Oversee financial systems tools (e.g., Deltek Costpoint) as they relate to finance policy, reporting, and forecasting.


Cross-Functional & Executive Collaboration



  • Partner with senior leaders to promote financial stewardship, cost optimization, and investment planning.
  • Support long-term financing activities including growth investments, contingency planning, and evaluation of mergers/acquisitions.


Requirements and Qualifications



  • BS/BA in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or closely related field
  • Proven experience as Director of Finance, senior financial leader, CFO, or similar role with a minimum of 15+ years in government contracting finance
  • Deep knowledge of corporate finance principles applicable to government contracting, including forecasting, analysis, treasury, and regulatory compliance.
  • Expert understanding of FAR, DFARS, CAS, and related regulatory requirements
  • Extensive expertise in Deltek Costpoint
  • Strong strategic and analytical abilities with excellent leadership and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with senior leaders, the Board, external partners, and financial institutions
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to successfully complete an extensive background investigation


Desired Qualifications



  • Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP) experience is highly desired
  • MS/MA in Finance, Accounting or MBA is preferred
  • CPA, CMA, CPCM or other relevant qualifications
  • Ability to obtain a Security Clearance
  • Familiarity with AI tools related to Finance
  • Experience with real estate financial management, including property-related transactions, leases, acquisitions, financing, or investment activities
