This role sits at the intersection of enterprise strategy, portfolio management, technology, business, and execution. You'll partner with leaders across BECU to strengthen how work enters the portfolio, priorities and investments are evaluated, dependencies and risks are managed, and progress and outcomes are communicated to executive leadership.

As BECU continues evolving toward a more product-oriented operating model, you'll play an important role in advancing strategic portfolio management, lean portfolio concepts, and outcome-based governance. You'll bring the leadership and enterprise perspective needed to connect people, priorities, investments, and execution while developing a strong team capable of navigating increasingly complex work.

Your leadership will help BECU not only execute work effectively, but make better decisions about what work matters most and how we deliver meaningful outcomes for our members.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Lead and Develop a High-Performing Team: Lead, coach, and develop a team of program and project management professionals, with the potential to oversee additional contractor support as organizational needs evolve.

  • Advance Strategic Portfolio Management: Help shape and mature portfolio intake, prioritization, governance, planning, and execution practices to strengthen alignment between enterprise strategy, investments, capacity, and outcomes.

  • Champion Product-Oriented Ways of Working: Partner across the organization to advance BECU's product-oriented operating model, incorporating lean portfolio concepts and outcome-based approaches into how enterprise work is prioritized and governed.

  • Influence Enterprise Priorities: Partner with senior and executive leaders to evaluate competing priorities, surface tradeoffs, identify opportunities and constraints, and provide the insights needed to make informed portfolio and investment decisions.

  • Drive Cross-Enterprise Alignment: Build strong partnerships across Technology, Business, Enterprise Execution, EPMO, and Enterprise Agility to connect priorities, resolve dependencies, and create alignment across complex initiatives.

  • Oversee Complex Enterprise Delivery: Provide leadership and oversight for complex programs and projects spanning multiple business units or departments, ensuring appropriate scope, resources, governance, financial discipline, and accountability for outcomes.

  • Manage Enterprise Risks and Dependencies: Proactively identify portfolio and program-level risks, issues, interdependencies, and barriers while influencing leaders and teams toward timely resolution.

  • Provide Executive Portfolio Insights: Translate complex portfolio information into clear, actionable insights and recommendations that help leaders understand performance, risks, opportunities, priorities, and progress toward intended outcomes.

  • Strengthen Delivery Practices: Partner with Enterprise Agility and other leaders to continually evolve Agile, Waterfall, hybrid, and product delivery practices with a focus on simplicity, effectiveness, and continuous improvement.

  • Lead Through Change: Guide organizational change associated with evolving EPMO initiatives, processes, policies, governance models, and standards while helping teams successfully adopt new ways of working.

  • Build Organizational Capability: Strengthen program and project management capabilities through coaching, mentoring, talent development, and the continued evolution of job families and career paths.

  • Maintain Connection to Delivery: Stay connected to critical enterprise initiatives and step into direct project or program leadership when needed while maintaining primary focus on people leadership and strategic portfolio support.

  • Take on Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned to support the evolving needs of the team and organization.

This isn't simply about overseeing projects. It's about helping BECU strengthen the connection between strategy, investment, people, and execution - and building the capabilities that allow our organization to deliver meaningful outcomes at scale.
