Mission Contribution: The Manager of Retail Sales Support plays a vital role in maximizing sales opportunities across all retail locations by optimizing workplace environments and leveraging supplemental revenue streams and operational square footage. This position maximizes operational efficiency, drives profitability, and supports the organization's mission by fostering a dynamic and growth-oriented work environment.

Summary: The Manager of Retail Sales Support is responsible for optimizing backroom production operations, strategic sales floor planning, and operational excellence. This role drives efficiency, supports revenue growth, and ensures alignment with organizational goals through expert guidance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Essential Functions:


  1. Serve as the subject matter expert on backroom production models for all retail locations, ensuring maximized efficiency and effectiveness.
  2. Provide expertise in optimal retail store layouts, consulting regularly with store leaders to enhance operational flow and sales potential.
  3. Oversee online retail (eCommerce) and the purchased/new goods supplemental revenue programs, ensuring profitability and growth.
  4. Partner with retail leadership and operations executives to drive revenue through assigned areas of responsibility.
  5. In partnership with the District Director, leads store relocations, renovations, and new store openings by developing backroom and sales floor layouts, managing inventory preparation, and ensuring successful execution through cross-department collaboration.
  6. Work alongside retail store managers to enhance their skills that lead to business success.
  7. Motivate team members to exceed performance expectations while maintaining a high standard of accountability.
  8. Conduct interviews, make hiring decisions, and assist with onboarding: Evaluate candidates, select the best fit for the team, support a seamless transition for new hires, and engage in recruitment opportunities to attract and retain top talent.
  9. Conduct regular performance reviews for team members, provide constructive feedback, set goals for improvement, and foster professional development.
  10. Document and implement coaching/corrective actions: Identify performance issues, develop and execute improvement plans, ensure compliance with policies and procedures, and foster ongoing professional development to enhance overall team effectiveness.
  11. Ensure all new staff are properly trained within established timelines, equipping them to meet production goals and contribute to organizational success.
  12. Manage labor resources effectively across assigned departments to optimize productivity and efficiency.
  13. Ensure timely and equitable accountability measures to minimize business disruptions and drive performance.
  14. Conduct site visits to retail locations as requested, assess operational efficiencies, provide feedback, and implement improvements.
  15. Ensure a safe and secure working environment by enforcing company safety standards, conducting regular safety audits, and addressing potential hazards promptly to minimize risks to team members and customers.
  16. Provide guidance and support to department leaders in alignment with company goals.
  17. Participate in training sessions, meetings, and company-related events as required.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  19. Adhere to all Goodwill policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Proficiency in digital literacy, including experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and company-specific software tools such as budgeting systems and HRIS platforms.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to effectively create professional reports, business correspondence, and other written documentation.
  • Effective verbal communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly and respond to inquiries from supervisors, team members, and customers.
  • Basic mathematical proficiency, including the ability to perform operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain productive working relationships with supervisors, team members, and diverse internal and external customers.
  • Positive and professional attitude, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment that enhances team morale and performance.

Required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Experience:


  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervision role within a retail environment or a production-focused business.
  • A degree in business, management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Must successfully complete any assigned Goodwill training within the required timeframe upon employment.

Special Requirements:


  • Personal vehicle usage is required for this position, including a reliable vehicle, a valid driver's license, and the ability to provide proof of insurance for driving on company business.
  • An acceptable motor vehicle record, based on Goodwill guidelines, is required for driving a personal or company vehicle.
  • Must provide a cell phone for specified work responsibilities, including the use of a phone-based application for authentication.
  • A high-speed, reliable broadband internet connection is required for job functions.
  • Must successfully complete a state background investigation and drug screen.
