At Gensler, we craft sports environments that bring people together to share unforgettable experiences. In our Lifestyle design studio, we deliver high-performance venues, ranging from professional and collegiate arenas to training facilities and mixed-use districts that elevate the experience for athletes, fans, and communities alike. Our studio culture is a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment where diverse perspectives spark innovative ideas and continuous growth. Collectively, we cultivate a culture of curiosity where every question is valid, each idea has value, and every voice counts.

Your Role

As a Gensler Technical Designer, you will bring conceptual rigor and deep investigation to complex architectural challenges. Blending creativity with technical expertise, you'll translate ambitious visions into functionally beautiful, high-performing spaces. You will collaborate with studio leadership to drive innovation on the most exciting projects in the sports and live events industry. These fast-paced, high-profile environments demand sharp instincts and real-time decision-making, offering an unparalleled platform to accelerate your career through hands-on problem-solving and mentorship.

What You Will Do

  • Convey clear project narratives and conceptual ideas to internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with architects, designers, and project leaders to develop thoughtful, well-resolved design solutions
  • Contribute to projects across all phases, from early concepts and design studies through construction documentation and administration
  • Prepare, develop, and edit drawings, Revit models, architectural details, and project deliverables
  • Produce diagrams, renderings, presentations, and visual materials that clearly communicate design ideas
  • Assist in translating design concepts into technically rigorous and buildable solutions
  • Participate in programming, space planning, research, material studies, design reviews, and consultant coordination
  • Take initiative and execute tasks proactively in response to direction from project leadership
  • Engage in project discussions and team critiques with creativity and a willingness to learn
  • Maintain high standards of design quality, technical execution, and attention to detail across all project work
  • Foster a collaborative studio culture that values mentorship, design excellence, and continuous learning

Your Qualifications

  • Accredited Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture
  • 0-5 years of experience in a professional architecture or design practice
  • A portfolio demonstrating design sensibilities, technical curiosity, and excellent visual communication skills
  • Proven ability to explore, develop, and present design ideas through drawing, modeling, and visualization
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite, Rhino, and Revit with hands-on experience contributing to project models and drawing sets
  • Proficiency with Enscape, Grasshopper, and AI design workflows is a plus
  • Working understanding of building systems, construction methods, detailing, codes, accessibility standards, and project delivery
  • Highly organized, collaborative, and adaptable across multiple project types and phases in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactive, curious, and eager to learn from both design and technical challenges

What Will Help You Succeed

  • Experience working on higher education, cultural, science, workplace, mixed-use, adaptive reuse, or other mission-driven projects
  • Exposure to multiple phases of project delivery, from concept design through construction documentation
  • Exposure to collaboration across disciplines, including architects, interior designers, consultants, and project teams
  • Interest in sustainable design, resilience, and high-performance buildings. LEED or other sustainability credential is a plus
  • Progress toward architectural licensure
  • Interest and experience in using research, precedent studies, material investigations, and other forms of design inquiry to inform design decisions
  • Interest in the relationship between design excellence, technical craft, and project execution
  • Experience in sports and entertainment architecture is a plus
