Location: Austin, TX

Pay: $30.00 - $32.00 per hour

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Drafter to support innovative engineering projects in Austin, TX. This contract opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong CAD design experience who enjoys developing custom mechanical solutions, creating technical documentation, and collaborating with engineering teams and manufacturing partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Create detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings, models, assemblies, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using CAD software.
• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to develop custom-engineered products and system solutions.
• Design, model, and prototype mechanical components for industrial and test equipment applications.
• Gather project requirements and develop technical specifications and documentation.
• Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners to support fabrication and production processes.
• Apply GD&T principles and mechanical design standards to ensure drawing accuracy and manufacturability.
• Support project execution, product development, and engineering change activities.
• Travel up to 25% as needed to support project and customer requirements.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of Mechanical Drafting or Mechanical Design experience.
• Advanced proficiency with CREO, Pro/E, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design, GD&T, fabrication methods, and design documentation.
• Experience creating detailed engineering drawings and BOMs.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project coordination skills.
• U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder required for ITAR-related projects.
