About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Apparel Color Designer to join a highly creative product design organization supporting a major global consumer brand. This role will focus on developing elevated, fashion-forward color concepts and visual stories for apparel collections.

The ideal candidate brings a strong point of view, exceptional taste, and a deep understanding of fashion and color. You will work alongside apparel and product designers to translate inspiration, trends, and creative concepts into compelling color palettes and product stories.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and curate sophisticated color palettes for apparel collections and product lines.
  • Create compelling mood boards, color stories, and visual presentations that communicate a clear creative direction.
  • Research fashion, cultural, and visual trends to identify relevant color and design opportunities.
  • Translate inspiration into cohesive, elevated color concepts that support seasonal and product direction.
  • Partner closely with apparel designers, product designers, and creative teams throughout the design process.
  • Present creative concepts and clearly articulate the thinking and inspiration behind color decisions.
  • Help ensure color direction is cohesive across collections while maintaining a strong and distinctive point of view.
  • Contribute to digital design presentations and creative assets using industry-standard design tools.
  • Incorporate feedback from cross-functional partners while maintaining the integrity of the overall creative vision.

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of professional experience in apparel color design, color direction, fashion design, or a closely related discipline.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating fashion-forward apparel color concepts and visual storytelling.
  • Exceptional taste level and visual judgment, with an eye for sophisticated, premium, and high-end aesthetics.
  • Strong ability to curate color palettes and build cohesive color stories.
  • Experience developing and presenting mood boards and visual concepts.
  • Strong storytelling and communication skills, with the ability to explain creative decisions and design rationale.
  • Strong understanding of fashion trends, color, materials, and apparel design.
  • Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Bachelor's degree in design, fashion, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in apparel design in addition to color design.
  • Ability to create line art, digital sketches, or fashion illustrations.
  • Background working in high fashion, luxury, contemporary, or premium apparel.
  • Experience developing seasonal color direction for collections or product assortments.
  • Experience working with global fashion, lifestyle, athletic, or consumer brands.
  • Strong understanding of the relationship between color, materials, silhouette, and overall product expression.
  • Experience collaborating across apparel, footwear, materials, and product design teams.

The Ideal Candidate

You are highly visual, creatively curious, and have a refined fashion perspective. You know what makes a color palette feel elevated and cohesive, and you can turn inspiration into a compelling story that influences product design.

You are comfortable bringing a strong creative point of view while collaborating with designers and cross-functional partners. Most importantly, you have a portfolio that demonstrates exceptional taste, fashion credibility, and the ability to create distinctive color stories for apparel.
