Position Description:

The Program Manager (Nurse) is responsible for delivering nursing services to patients to resolve emotional, behavioral, or interpersonal problems. Provides supervision to licensed and unlicensed clinical staff as assigned by Chief Nursing Officer/Designee. Organizes, plans and ensures the implementation of the overall clinical functions of the program.

Job Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Provides clinical leadership for assigned programs/units.
  • Coordinates with the Director of Clinical Services and Managers to develop, implement and monitor work standards
  • Involved in interviewing applicants for clinical staff positions as referred by the Director of Clinical Services.
  • Coordinates treatment with Program Staff, Therapists, Teachers and Physicians delivering treatment in the program.
  • Develop programs for patients at PHP.
  • Supports and implements program philosophy under the direction of the Director of Clinical Services.
  • Implements goals and objectives for patients based on the established program philosophy and patients' needs.
  • Organizes and plans clinical functions of the program as requested by the Director of Clinical Services.
  • Monitors programs in coordination with other clinical units as requested by the Director of Clinical Services.
  • Provides guidance to the Program Staff in regard to program issues and milieu management in close coordination with the Director of Clinical Services.
  • Delivers nursing care to patients at PHP.
  • Support and implements program philosophy.
  • Completes Nursing Admission and Discharge assessments for patients.
  • Collaborate with the provider staff to obtain orders for patient care.
  • Documents all orders according to policy.
  • Delivers medications and documents delivery according to policy.
  • Evaluates patients as needed for medical issues providing nursing care or consulting for medical care as needed.
  • Evaluates vital signs weekly and reports deviations from baseline/normal to the provider.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Education: Graduate degree from an accredited school of Nursing

Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as a Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia preferred; or holds a compact license

Experience/Knowledge:

  • Five (5) years of experience in the delivery of mental health treatment to children and/or adolescents required; Five or more preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year of supervisory experience required or Charge Nurse Experience.
  • Must possess knowledge of major aspects of the treatment of children and adolescents.
  • Works at the PHP site as well as the RTC/Acute facility, occasionally outside of facility. Schedule may vary.
  • All duties require above average intelligence and no cognitive deficits which compromise abstract thinking.
  • Requires above average judgment which is not compromised by medication or substance abuse.
  • Must possess valid driver's license.

Physical requirements:

Some risk involved in the event of aggressive/out-of- control patient.The Physical Requirements for this position include being able to stand, squat, kneel, sit and lie on the floor for long periods of time. Must be able to climb, run and walk for long periods of time as well. Must be able to lift 50lbs of weight. Must be able to read, write clearly, talk and listen. Able to verbally de-escalate and physically restrain patients/residents when necessary. Must be 21 years old or older.
