North Star Bank is looking for a talented and highly motivated Assistant Vice President Information Technology/Security Officer to join our team. This is a well-rounded role directs all aspects of information technology, including infrastructure, business systems, information and facility security, network administration, telecommunication systems and IT support, while ensuring technology investments align with and accelerate business strategy, operational efficiency, and the customer experience.

This leader will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and performance of various information networks, computers, security equipment, and software applications. In addition, provides full support to end users serving as an extension of the internal help desk fielding questions, troubleshooting problems and ensures security measures and backup procedures are in place.

This position plans and carries out policies relating to information technology and security activities. Maintains knowledge and understanding of technological advancements and trends, provides analysis, evaluation and strategy development for system changes to meet the needs of users and enhance the long-term operational and strategic goals of the Bank.

Key Focus and Responsibilities of This Role Are:
  • Working knowledge of network hardware (servers, routers, Meraki switches, hubs, firewalls, MPLS lines, etc.), VMWare, iPads, and multiple software applications to troubleshoot all computer problems including, but not limited to, network connections, printing, passwords, crashes, viruses.
  • Ability to perform network configuration using TCP/IP protocol.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office desktop and server software programs, Office 365, Exchange, and SQL.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with troubleshooting and maintaining computer hardware and maintaining IT contracts for the bank.
  • Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems.
  • Monitor the data protection services in place which supports our evolving business and ensure regulatory, and resiliency requirements are met.
  • Plan, coordinate and implement security measures to safeguard information in computer files and ensure virus/Malware/Spyware protection is current.
  • Oversee the security aspects of the bank's alarm system. Ensure security measures are intact.
  • Chair the IT Steering Committee. Facilitate and meet quarterly with IT Steering Committee members providing updates to information security systems performance, completed, in process and upcoming projects along with carrying out research and executing networking products and technologies to aid in the Bank's vision and strategic plan.
  • Oversee user access to Network. Set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices. Create user accounts for each employee for network/application and email accessibility, establish individual profiles, set up password criteria, assign groups and establish permissions and ownership of files.
  • Provide new employee orientation and guidance to users on how to operate software, computer equipment, security, and review acceptable use policies.
  • Maintain accurate log of all bank hardware, software and printer equipment complete with configuration information.
  • Maintain updates to the information technology risk assessment and policies on an annual basis in addition to assisting with Exam preparations.
  • Act as system administrator for information and security systems; which includes network infrastructure servers, desktops, and telecommunication systems. Designated point of contact for any IT related issues.
  • Identify, install and maintain upgrades to the network and various auxiliary modules. (i.e. Laser/Deposit Pro, EZ Teller, EZ ID, Verex).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve computer problems including, but not limited to, network connections, profile issues, printing, passwords, crashes and viruses.
  • Manage, lead, mentor and develop IT staff members.
  • Manage end-to-end IT-related projects.
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results.
  • Effectively communicate with all levels of the organization with strong communication skills through excellent verbal and written correspondence, effective listening, exhibit responsiveness and have high attention to detail and follow through skills.

Required Qualifications:
Computer systems knowledge and skills generally acquired through a bachelor's degree in computer science and three to five years of increased responsibility in all aspects of computer systems, including hardware, software, internet and networks. Progressively responsible supervisory/management experience in a technical environment is required. IT/Network certifications would be helpful and are recommended. A+ certification preferred. Specialized IT education/training required. Experience with banking programs; Laser/Deposit Pro, EZ Teller, EZ ID, Fiserv and Navigator required. Valid driver's license required to be able to travel between locations and work outside or normal hours in the event a special business needs arises.

  • Ability to learn new programs quickly and adapt to changing banking technology with ease.
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership qualities and possess tactful interpersonal communication skills to effectively work well cross functionally with all departments and executives.

Compensation Commensurate with experience:
The base pay for this position starts at $80,000. This beginning base salary represents a good faith and reasonable estimate of the minimum base range of possible compensation at the time of posting. If an applicant possesses experience, education, or other qualifications more than the minimum requirements for this posting, that applicant is encouraged to apply, and a final salary range may then be based on those additional qualifications; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, seniority, merit, education, training, and other relevant business considerations.
