Job Summary

Plan and oversee the research administration of large and/or complex research programs and projects within a department or school. Includes supervision of program/project related financial accounting and reporting, coordination of proposal preparation and submissions, event planning and management, and general research administration support. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance, providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.

This position will interact on a consistent basis with: department leadership, research program/project managers and faculty, Institute financial management program sponsors

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Partner with senior leadership to develop and implement strategic initiatives and best practices in research administration to support the university's research goals and objectives

Job Duty 2 -
Direct assignments for lower level administrative and research support staff; train staff on policies, procedures, and best practices

Job Duty 3 -
Oversee budgets associated with assigned programs/projects to include tracking expenses and preparing budget reports

Job Duty 4 -
Organize and facilitate pre- and post-award proposal processes, including data collection, routing, editing, compliance, oversight, renewals and extensions, deliverables, billing questions, award closeout, and interface with sponsors

Job Duty 5 -
Direct event logistics for large scale, multi-site program related symposia, workshops, meetings, and other events

Job Duty 6 -
Lead cross-functional or inter-departmental working groups to resolve complex agreement issues; assess and mitigate risks associated

Job Duty 7 -
Partner and advise leadership on program-related data for sponsor reporting

Job Duty 8 -
Serve as unit-level expert and owner of department research administration. Identify opportunities and implement solutions for improvement and optimization

Job Duty 9 -
Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Seven to nine years of job-related experience

  • Organize and facilitate proposal preparation and submission to include coordination of data collection, routing and editing
  • Make travel arrangements for unit staff management and staff as directed
  • Ability to hold and manage a P-CARD is preferred, but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
This position requires supervisory and organization skills and knowledge of general office administrative processes and practices as applied in a research laboratory or center environment. Working knowledge related to research project accounting, budgeting, and reporting is required as are skills in records management and event planning. Use of office-related computer applications is required.

Salary range is dependent on candidates experiences and skills that ranges from $65,202.00 - $88,673.00
